NOT A HOT TAKE.
But my two cents as a season ticket holder…
I was not asking for McDermott’s firing.
But I’m not angry about it either.
He had 9 seasons. The last loss? Not his fault. But the Bills should not have been a 6 seed to begin with. Too many curious coaching decisions and underperforming defense in playoffs.
He was an excellent leader and a great guy. But in NFL history, if a coach doesn’t deliver a Super Bowl berth in 6 years it never happens.
I want a Super Bowl WIN for the Bills before I die and this team and McDermott never even got us TO the Super Bowl. He did not have a winning record in the playoffs.
A change can be a very positive thing. (It can also be negative, one way to find out).
I have deep admiration for McDermott (named my pet after him lol). And Beane needs to improve the roster, yes.
But I’m willing to give a new coach a chance, perhaps one that can take the league MVP and nation’s best fan base to the promised land.
If it doesn’t work, then yes, Beane must be held accountable. Who knows, maybe McDermott will Lindy Ruff himself back to Buffalo. Until then, i hope he succeeds wherever he lands.
Cannot be overstated how pathetic it is that Josh Allen is forced to throw to Mecole Hardman and Brandin Cooks in a playoff game.
Brandon Beane has to go.
