Today, I voiced my concerns with @SowetoTVchannel abt the persistent problem of GBV & Domestic Violence in our community. Sadly, some police officers are also perpetrators of these crimes. IPID is investigating 27 rape cases involving police officials in GP.
Gauteng commuters face daily chaos and danger because 44% of provincial traffic lights remain non-functional needing over R200 million to repair. Premier Lesufi promised immediate fixes and teams, but delays and unreliable providers persist. This risks lives and wastes time. Enough excuses! #TrafficLightCrisis #InfrastructureFail #LesufiPromisesBroken #GautengDeservesBetter #DAGPL
It was a great pleasure to see the Consul General of @ChnConsulateJhb Mr. Pan Qinjiang at the Gauteng SOCA. CG Pan is valued supporter of the work of @GautengProvince. Growing bilateral relationship btw China & SA continues to strengthen bcs of dedicated efforts by CG Pan
Pleased to meet with @MichaelSun168, a member of @GPLegislature yesterday. We talked about the current security situation including mineral related crime, and about 🇯🇵 🇿🇦 cooperation including in the area of market-oriented small-scale agriculture, among others.
Residents across Gauteng are stuck in endless traffic jams because 44% of our provincial traffic lights are not working! 😡
This isn’t just inconvenience – it’s dangerous, causing accidents and costing lives. Over R200 million is needed to fix them, but the real challenge is finding a reliable service provider who actually finishes on time and within budget.
DA Spokesperson for Roads and Logistics Nicole Van Dyk MPL is pushing hard: No more excuses, no more failures. Appoint competent contractors, blacklist the rest.
A DA-led Gauteng would get this done properly – safer roads for everyone. Drive safe out there! 💙

Democratic Alliance Ward 112 (Midrand) councillor Lerato Mphefo questions how opening a new reservoir will resolve the crisis when existing reservoirs are already struggling to receive consistent supply.
This follows the recent visit by Deputy President Paul Mashatile at a Midrand water reservoir.
There are many reasons why people dnt do cinemas anymore, one being bad service. When the staff was told the volume is too uncomfortably high, he simply says there is nothing he can do.....Needless to say R500 not worth while spending.

🚨👎 DA TO TABLE MOTION OF NO CONFIDENCE AGAINST PREMIER LESUFI
Premier Panyaza Lesufi’s Amapanyaza scheme has collapsed under its own weight — and now the truth is out.
🔹 The Public Protector found the unit’s creation irregular and in violation of the Constitution.
🔹 Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi confirmed the wardens were unlawful and unsanctioned under SAPS law.
🔹 Millions in taxpayer funds were wasted, lives were lost, and the public was misled.
🎙️ Solly Msimanga MPL, DA Leader of the Official Opposition in Gauteng:
“Lesufi’s lies have finally caught up with him. Gauteng deserves leadership that tells the truth — not political gimmicks.”
The DA will now table a motion of no confidence in Lesufi for his reckless, costly and unconstitutional conduct.

🚗💥 DA calls on JMPD & Gauteng Traffic: Prioritise safety — not profit!
The Democratic Alliance (DA) is concerned about a growing trend of revenue-driven roadblocks by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and the Gauteng Traffic Department.
These roadblocks appear to focus more on collecting fines than saving lives — neglecting the real causes of Gauteng’s high road fatality rate: reckless driving, speeding, and drunk driving.
📊 Gauteng still accounts for 22% of all road deaths in South Africa.
DA Gauteng Spokesperson for Community Safety Michael Sun MPL says:
💬 “Traffic enforcement must not be a cash cow. It must save lives. Gauteng’s law enforcement should prioritise public safety, not revenue collection.”
✅ The DA is calling for:
A shift from fine-collection to life-saving operations
Use of Average Speed Over Distance (ASOD) systems to deter reckless driving
Integrated data tracking between agencies
Public awareness campaigns on road safety
🚦 Gauteng needs smart, preventative policing — not money-making traps.

Visited the new VCSI (Vulnerable Citizens Support Initiative) HQ today, an inspiring initiative making SA safer by reuniting missing persons with their families. Salute to @MahmoodCassim & @Clive_Maher of SCP Security for their leadership. This is how we build caring communities
Michael Sun, DA Gauteng spokesperson for community safety, stated: “Crime-fighting @ this station is being hampered by resource challenges such as shortage of police vehicles, limited parking & heavy workloads on detectives...”
