Just love swimming

[Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський @ZelenskyyUa]

Peace never comes through weakness. Today, representatives of the U.S. Congress were in Kyiv – a bipartisan delegation – and I am grateful to them for visiting Ukraine at such a difficult time. They asked: what is needed to end the war? The answer must be strong. There must be sanctions under the Lindsey Graham bill, there must be support for Ukraine in protecting lives, and there must be pressure on Russia for its war. And today, there was a conversation between the leaders of America and Russia. A conversation that leads to something different.

Recently, there was a European decision to lift sanctions on Russian oligarchs. Since then, Russian strikes and the torment of people have only increased. This past week alone, there was a brutal Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky, aerial bombs were dropped on Kramatorsk – on ordinary city buses – and there have been constant attacks on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure and on the life-sustaining infrastructure in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, and our other cities. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds wounded.

The Russians are compensating for their inability to achieve their objectives on the battlefield with this kind of terror. This year, Russia is weaker on the battlefield than at any other point in the war. That is why Putin is relying on terror. That is why he is relying on attempts to strike backroom deals to secure some form of pressure relief for Russia, in order to buy more time and more opportunities for war.

Any easing of sanctions against Russia without a clear and lasting de-escalation agreement with Russia is an obvious weakness. It plays into Russia’s hands – allowing it to kill more, wage war for longer, have even less respect for America, and inflict even greater losses and damage on the world.

Ukraine is ready to take symmetrical de-escalatory steps, and the American team knows our position. Our strikes on Russian oil refineries and other oil facilities are a response to Russia’s years-long campaign of terror against Ukraine’s energy sector. Ukraine will not set Russian oil refineries on fire if Russia does not destroy our energy infrastructure. This is the kind of agreement we are proposing to America, and we believe the United States has enough power to achieve such a compromise.

Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilized world. Russia will “repay” the diesel with further terror and perfidy. Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged. What is needed is real de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis.

We count on America’s fair support for our defense of life, for our defense of people in Ukraine – and on the United States having a correspondingly strong conversation with Russia. A strong one, not a weak one.

Only Trump can save Putin. Goodbye to US sanctions. Every GOP running for office must be confronted with this egregious act of supporting genocidal war in Ukraine, especially at the moment when Putin shifted all his fire power to killing civilians.

[Garry Kasparov @Kasparov63]

Every damned day.

[Michael @MichaelSwimming]

@Umesh__digital It depends

[Michael @MichaelSwimming]

@TRobinsonNewEra "russia is not our enemy"
russia will disagree

[Garry Kasparov @Kasparov63]

Is this a joke? The "dangerous escalation" has already happened, Russia increasing its attacks on Europe in frequency and intensity. Retaliation and deterrence are essential, and the only way to force Putin to deescalate.

[Michael @MichaelSwimming]

@prezydentpl @NawrockiKn Capitulation before invasion 😅

[Garry Kasparov @Kasparov63]

Do something.

[Garry Kasparov @Kasparov63]

Damn Ukraine! 😂

Open Pool season is over...

[Michael @MichaelSwimming]

@zilvestro I understand this pay, what I heard is that in case of private HI you need to pay for treatment yourself and request a refund... What if necessary treatment is more expensive than what you have? Would it be paid directly? Is it difficult to get insurance to pay for treatment?

[Michael @MichaelSwimming]

@TRobinsonNewEra You are a retard if you listen to this Idiocracy

[Michael @MichaelSwimming]

The colder it gets, the fewer people go swimming.
More space for us 😁

[Richard Dawkins @RichardDawkins]

I am bewildered, and not very impressed, by the visceral, naked, irrational hatred spat out by some defenders of Jason Arday. If a Cambridge professor is accused of being an unqualified charlatan, the accusation might be racially motivated. On the other hand it might not, depending on the evidence. The correct question to ask is not, ”What is the colour of his skin” but “Is it in fact true that he is an unqualified charlatan?” Please examine the evidence before leaping to the assumption of racism.
As for the idea that journalists “piled in on him” and “hounded him to his death”, most attacks were against Cambridge University. Jason himself was widely regarded as an unfortunate victim of foolish promotion way beyond his ability to cope. In appointing him to a professorship for which he was manifestly unqualified – in ludicrously describing him as “the best in the world” – certain senior members of the university showed a level of patronising condescension towards black people that could fairly be described as racism, while at the same time making him tragically vulnerable to such attacks as came his way.

If your empathy is dictated by race, it isn't empathy....it's racism.

Time proves Elon right and the reporter wrong:

"My point is you exaggerate Europe's problem"

Videos from Spain, Italy and Greece.

[Jeremy Clarkson @JeremyClarkson]

Until last week, men over 50 were entitled to a free PSA prostate cancer check. But the government has now decided to withdraw that right. I cannot for the life of me work out what their reasoning might be.

[Michael @MichaelSwimming]

Hey, Spaniards, where the fuck is your army?

[Michael @MichaelSwimming]

All the news media that say SpaceX "damaged" the Moon with their rocket are idiots
