The good work of most charities can be substituted by good policies. Why is there a need to set up Community Shops@ Mounbatten or@Boon Lay when the dignified way to help the needy is to give them shopping vouchers directly. Better still, ensure that they earned a higher wage.

Another hurray! Collective efforts of the alternative camp to fight for affordable healthcare has led to the revamp of the healthcare subsidy system. More need to be done. Aim is to ensure most of all those who need financial help will get it. Not just those who need it most.

@tocsg Sad that the Minister is not aware that male Singaporeans have NS obligations and also employers need to pay CPF for all Singaporeans. These policies do create disadvantages.

DPM Heng argued for 30 mins during 26 Feb Parliament why increasing other taxes (eg., wealth tax, speculation tax etc), other than the GST, is not viable. His arguments on the other taxes are debatable but GST hike causing more financial anxiety to Singaporeans is certainty.

Besides the issue of trust, this episode may have also reflected the failure of those in the civil service to highlight to their political masters that their very public stance and pronouncements were inconsistent with the law as per the CPC. Or ....

It seems that the PAP Government is willing to erode public trust by back tracking on promises not to use TraceTogether for criminal investigations and formulates policies on the basis of an extreme hypothetical of the endangerment of a child’s life.
