I agree that someone who has played year(s) of professional sport should not be allowed to play college after. The 5-in-5 is a classic NCAA slapdash attempt to solve that problem but it only causes more. The real solution is making college athletes employees with signed contracts
Such a baffling stance to take where people would want both worse, less productive development for the players competing AND an objectively worse product on the ice as a result
And not for nothing, 23/24/25 is "college age" for a lot of people. These🤡never heard of grad school
The amount of simps for the NCAA 5-in-5 in the comments is sickening, particularly in the authority with which they are expressing their ignorance to the game of college hockey
College hockey's dev path has worked so well it's totally supplanted the CHL path. Mull that over...
Evan's dad Donnie still calls some games for UMass on radio and TV as well
Moorhouse is very familiar with the Minutemen and the 413, an excellent hire for Carvel and the UMass program
These are all the Minutemen players/commits that could be taken in this year's NHL Draft:
Tobias Trejbal
Samu Alalauri
Landon Nycz
Egor Barabanov
Oleg Kulebiakin
Jasper Kuhta
Jack Galanek
Weston Cameron
Torkel Jennersjo
At least 6 of those are locks
Recruiting on another level
Seeing the numbers from the most recent UMass Gives campaign it looks like Minutemen fans are finally speaking with their wallets in the lack of donations
🏈 & men's 🏀in particular with (deservedly) poor showings
A major step towards ousting Ryan Bamford is stopping the 💵💰
A classic Bam Bam move here trying to spin blame back to a time when he wasn't here
Did UMass do things wrong pre-Bamford? 100% they did. Does that change the fact that they've actually gotten worse under his leadership? No it does not
Charlatans do charlatan things
I would love for the committee to make one rule change, and that is to make a hand pass in the defensive zone legal in college hockey. I will die on this hill
(Also I know UMass has much if not all of their non-conf schedule set but those Nov dates for Minnesota are intriguing)
UMass had a chance several years ago to purchase all of Hampshire but that ended up falling through when Hampshire was able to remain open
This should be a no-brainer for UMass, the flagship campus absoutely needs the space. If you can buy Mt Ida, you should buy Hampshire
Hesitant to put any 1-year players (or half-year in Montour's case) on a Mount Rushmore for UMass
Makar and Quick yes, I'd say they're locks. Thomas Pöck has to be on there for me, incredibly underrated. Fourth spot is tough...Marcou, Pat Keenan, Sheary, Trivigno all candidates
Heard that Gavin Conforth is headed to UMass out of the transfer portal after spending three years in the USHL, followed by stops in Moncton (QMJHL) and Boston College.
Had 54 points in 62 games in Dubuque last season and 30 points in 29 games in Moncton this season.
A @JLazzy23 💣 to start off #PortalSZN!
#NewMass receives a commitment from Gavin Cornforth!
A skillful winger, who spent some time at BC before heading to the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL, has been killing it for them both in the regular season and playoffs!
Welcome Gavin!
