And obv just in time for that trailer for Part 3, yay! But then I did a little googling after SGF wrapped to see reactions and... booo. So glad I don't follow much of this game's community, lots of unnecessary moaning about such an expansive and well-crafted game.
Finished FFVII Rebirth this week (I started in June '24 and have played it in three 15+ hour chunks). Converted me into an FF fanboy! Multiverse stories are ten a penny these days but it’s pleasing the concept is used to reckon with the game’s legacy (despite vague ending)
A delight to see British games IP on food promos, but the French household is bereft to discover this promotion has bloody EXPIRED. Only bought these yesterday.
This is cute and I am a sucker for this stuff but it’s also a bit… crap? The memes about LEGO these days just being a ‘big statue of a thing Gen X’ers remember’ are very true. Licensing by numbers. And the instructions say you can make the Japanese version - well, you cannot.
Watched the Sharma interview w/ Bloomberg. First impressions matter, but '100 days' talk is presidential nonsense. CEOs say it often, it's waffle. Love the idea of Xbox going being a 'challenger' platform again, but changing the spelling to 'XBOX' is not how to tell that story...
heavens, stumbled upon a link to this tweet. What a treasure trove we had - blood boils to think much of this stuff was binned by the new owners of the mag a few months after this
A peculiar publication. I’m taken by the style but confounded by other elements. ‘Video games are culture’ isn’t the bold proclamation this thinks it is. (My Xennial ass was co-editing a fanzine with ‘video games culture’ as the subtitle some, good lord, 25 years ago…)
Four years after I wrote it off, Hacks managed to not only turn it around after an unnecessarily cruel S2, but delivered the rarest thing: a show with a good, and earned, five-seasons-in-the-making happy ending finale.
Channelling Tina Fey's 'quiet luxury' lesson every time someone asks me about SXSW London. "Authenticity is dangerous and expensive. I don’t think so, honey."
Sir Paul McCartney doing Chicken Shop Date, a TikTok Live gig, SNL and then the Colbert show. Tell me the age of the person leading your comms team without telling me the age of the person leading your comms team, etc etc.
With all due respect to the people quoted in this - who I know and/or have met - the narrative in this article is perplexing. Reads like the sort of mainstream piece we’d see 10+ yrs back. And I think we won the ‘argument’ over games having cultural value some time ago…
Credits rolling on Metroid 4. In the curious state of having persisted with it, but being furious with myself for doing so. If you had said it was a HD remake of a GameCube game, you could forgive its flaws. But so much of it is actually unforgivable.
@dandouglas My condolences - my mum passed at the start of the year and there's no rhyme or reason to the swing of emotions, whatever other things you have to manage as well. And no fault in however you react to it. Look after yourself.
I know the Metroid 4 discourse is over but some of the decisions in this game are unfathomable. Eg. Fifth boss is best defeated using a very specific control scheme, needs fighting via a solution that is actively undermined by the game’s signature lock-on controls.
