Crazy Scientist who loves the cultured and sensitive world of bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses! I am also into photography and I am learning to ice skate.
I am so glad that it is nearly payday. October is always such an expensive month because I have to MOT my car, renew my car insurance, renew my television license and renew my Health and Care Professions Council registration πΈ
I am waiting in for a plumber because one of the pipes in my airing cupboard is leaking. I had to grovel to get the day off work today because we are not allowed to take any annual leave this month as we have just had a new Laboratory Information Management System installed.
My department at work is getting a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) installed this month so we are not allowed to take any annual leave in October.
I did not sleep too badly last night despite the arrival of Storm Amy. However, I was woken up at 05:45 am by a man wheeling a large shelving unit down the road π€
I did not receive the Emergency Alert today. I did not receive the original alert a couple of years ago either. I am assuming that my mobile is not compatible because it is too old and decrepit π€£
Today is the first day of my annual leave. I have to work on Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of September but I have got rest days on Monday the 15th and Tuesday the 16th of September. I wanted to book a different week off in September but this was the only week available
@metoffice@MetEireann@KNMI I am really excited that there is going to be a Storm Dave. This is hilarious. The Met Office has finally listened and given the people what they want - storms with funny names π€£
I had a lovely day in Bristol last Friday doing the @thegrandappeal Gromit Unleashed 3 trail and I managed to walk 14 miles.
The first time I visited Bristol was in 2018 when I did the Gromit Unleashed 2 trail. I wish that I had discovered Bristol sooner as it is amazing.
I started work early this morning as I was supervising the decorators. The laboratory is gradually being painted during the next few weekends. The hideous pink walls that have been there since the dawn of time are finally going.
I walked to my local Post Office earlier today and they told me that they could not log into the system. I then drove to another Post Office but they were having the same issue and told me that it could be a nationwide issue. I really need to post a parcel.
I found some Entamoeba histolytica cysts under the microscope at work yesterday. I realise that I am easily pleased but we do not have very many parasites in the UK π¬
