If media had covered Trump’s plans to end entire government agencies, purge universities, deport Dreamers, and fund the government entirely by tariffs like they covered Biden’s debate performance, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
“We reject rhetoric, policies, and actions that demean or discriminate against any of God's children and will be vigilant in defending the rights of the vulnerable and speaking out against oppression.” - United Methodist Council of Bishops
This is the way, Christians.
i was not under any illusions that this country was a warm and loving place for minorities but i guess i am a little taken aback by the number of people who would literally put them in a meat grinder if they thought it would save them a dollar on eggs
If the evangelical church had judged Donald J. Trump, by the same standards that they judged Bill Clinton, the division in America over this election would be greatly reduced. The Body of Christ is more broken and divided over this election more so than I’ve seen since before the era of reconciliation initiatives of the ‘90s, with Promise Keepers, & in Baptist life, there was a concerted, intentional, & intensified effort tracing back to the 60s-80s, to mend the divide between Southern and National Baptist primarily surrounding racial matters. Both efforts had major success in my judgment(PK/SBC/NBC), towards healing & mending the racial divide among us. I’m sensing now we’re almost back to where we were. National Baptist and Southern Baptist don’t even want to sit in the same room together anymore.
The National Baptist feel betrayed and baffled by the White Churches love affair with, & embracing of Trump given his obvious disqualifications & unChristlike ways. The White Church views the Black Church as suspect because of our support of Harris, regardless of her liberal views & policies on transgender issues, abortion, & gay marriage, of which none of those three issues drove the Black Churches support of Harris. Seemingly, “we can’t all get along”.
I’m mourning the lost of hope I once had that the vision of PK to unite us under one roof, and deploy us, to serve God and our communities together doing common good is seemingly gone. The many, many times I sat in rooms filled with Black and White Baptist together affirming our Kingdom brotherhood & sisterhood, building mutual reciprocal relationships, and worshipping the same God, in the same room in Spirit and in truth is currently under serious strain & estrangement.
In February I look forward to partnering with a predominantly White SBC congregation in a Glen Rose Men’s rally meeting that was previously scheduled. Because of the pastor’s heart & my heart it’s going to work.
The next 3 days I’ll be at the Texas State Baptist Convention in Waco, where hundreds(300-500, at least) of Black Baptists will gather with (1000-2000) White Baptists. My Executive Pastor in training, Al Curley will preach there Sunday Night. I will sit on a panel discussing the role of women in ministry, Tuesday at noon, with phenomenal fellow panelists, from the academy(Baylor-Truett, and SWBTS) & fellow pastors, of Anglo, African American, and Hispanic descent. I pray brotherly love continues.
But, as I’ve dialogued with Black & White pastors post election, tension & division are elevated surrounding the election. I wonder what this will mean going forward. The group of Baptist I’m meeting with are often labeled “moderate”. They’re far better at race relations, and respect diversity and autonomy in the local church, and electoral & partisan politics. This group of Baptist does not view being a Christian is synonymous with voting Republican. They recognize that a Christian should be free to vote for either party, without their faith being called into question.
The future will be interesting to see, that as a whole will the Baptist & evangelical families across racial lines will ever get back to the point of together seeking unity, & practicing oneness in Christ for the purpose of world evangelization. I’m aware of pastors & churches who were contemplating having joint interracial services, and one massive interracial men’s rally, have determined not to follow through because the tensions surrounding the election has one or the other group no longer desiring to meet together because of the division surrounding Trump.
My heart is grieved over this, yet I’m putting my hope in God, and heading to Waco tomorrow, where I believe this is one of the few gatherings in Baptist life where there will not be Trump based division and tensions.
An elderly black man was slowly walking in with a cane, and I told him he could vote from his car and he said
“No thank you. I’ve been made to wait 8 hours and had to pay the poll tax. I’m going inside to vote.”
😭😭😭😭😭
I am literally crying and trying to pull myself together.
Please please be enough 🙏
If students want to avoid the long line, there is a nearby polling station that is a 9min walk. Not much of a line. Go to University Lutheran Church at 340 East 15th St. Tempe, AZ. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!
Our officers just arrested a man who was stopped during our screening process at the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC). The man smelled like fuel, had a torch & a flare gun.
The CVC is closed for tours for the day, while we investigate. We will provide more information when we can.
This is not a line outside a poll site.
This is a line of Harris volunteers filling up six buses on W. 62nd St., headed to PA this a.m.
This is why we are gonna win it.
Election Day is here. Today, we vote because we love our country and we believe in the promise of America.

I have been asked on two different networks and by two different male hosts today whether abortion rights are as important to women as the economy. I can't say it more clearly: reproductive freedom is economic freedom. They are intrinsically intwined, as every woman knows.
