The irony of this post is hard to miss.
The very people talking about a "Big Tent" seem prepared to split the center and centre-right votes and hand another victory to the NDP simply because they don't like the outcome of a leadership race.
British Columbia is facing some of the most serious challenges in its history: rising debt and deficits, declining productivity, affordability pressures, public safety concerns, addiction and homelessness, healthcare shortages, struggling schools, and growing concerns about government overreach and accountability. The priority should be fixing these problems, not creating another political party because some individuals are unhappy with the leadership's results.
The goal has always been to build a coalition broad enough to represent the diverse views of British Columbians while focusing on common-sense solutions. No political party succeeds by demanding ideological purity. Success comes from bringing people together around shared priorities and a shared vision for the future.
If the concern is about the new leader, then engage with her. Reach out. Have the conversation. Work to influence the direction of the party from within. That's how healthy political movements grow.
What I find increasingly frustrating is the constant attempt by political opponents and commentators to paint every Conservative as some version of an American political stereotype. Most Conservatives I know are not interested in imported political labels. They are focused on responsible government, affordability, economic growth, public safety, strong healthcare, quality education, and protecting democratic freedoms.
British Columbians deserve less political theatre and more leadership.
Creating another centre-right party does not weaken the NDP—it strengthens them. History has shown that repeatedly.
The question shouldn't be how many parties can occupy the same political space. The question should be how we unite enough British Columbians to deliver the change this province desperately needs.
INSANE
There should be a rule:
Any elected government official, that refuses to testify at committee, should be fined $25,000, personally.
And the party fined $250,000.
Watch how quickly they lose their smug attitude.
Corrupt Liberal mafia.

The leadership race is behind us. The work begins now.
I'm proud to stand with this team as we focus on holding government accountable, earning the trust of British Columbians, and preparing to form government.
Let's get to work.
As your newly elected Leader of the BC Conservative Party, I bring senior-level experience that will serve every family in our province.
I served as a Cabinet Minister in Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s government, where I helped deliver lower taxes, cut red tape, and return the country to a surplus after the worst recession in decades. That experience taught me how to manage government responsibly and put people first.
I was appointed Chief Opposition Whip by Pierre Poilievre, the first woman to hold the position. In that role I was responsible for uniting and leading a large national caucus with discipline and focus.
I am also a King’s Counsel, an honour that reflects decades of legal expertise and a deep commitment to the rule of law and property rights.
As a senior lawyer I have spent decades defending the rule of law and property rights. In the late 1990s, as a young widow with small children, I bought a leasehold property on Musqueam land in South Vancouver. When the Musqueam First Nation sued the homeowners, I helped lead our legal team through a long and costly battle that went all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. We won that case in 2000 and protected the property rights and equity of those families. That experience taught me firsthand how critical it is to defend fee-simple ownership and certainty for every British Columbian.
These roles have prepared me to lead with seriousness, competence, and results. While the NDP under David Eby has delivered economic vandalism, growing debt, failing services, and chaos, I am ready to restore competent, principled government that works for British Columbians.
Together we will unite our party and build a stronger, more prosperous British Columbia.
The race is over. The members have spoken. And I feel good.
Congratulations to @KerryLynneFindl on her win and to my fellow contestants @iainblackbc, @yuri_fulmer and @PeterMilobar for their strong campaigns.
Thank you to my incredible team who believed in me, and to everyone who participated in this process.
Now, it’s time to beat the NDP so we can restore hope and prosperity to the province we love.
Congratulations to Kerry-Lynne Findlay on being elected leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia.
I would also like to congratulate all of the leadership candidates who stepped forward in this race. Each candidate demonstrated a commitment to British Columbia and a willingness to serve. Leadership campaigns are demanding, and every candidate contributed ideas, energy, and passion to the future of our province.
Now is the time to come together. British Columbians cannot afford division or vote-splitting. If we are serious about changing the direction of our province, we must unite people from across the centre, centre-right, and right around common-sense solutions and a shared vision for a stronger British Columbia.
The Conservative Party of BC and our caucus have demonstrated that we are a big-tent movement that welcomes diverse perspectives while remaining focused on the issues that matter most to British Columbians: affordability, economic growth, public safety, healthcare, education, housing, responsible government, and the protection of private property rights.
The BC NDP has spent years pursuing policies that have divided communities and distracted from the challenges facing families, seniors, workers, and businesses. British Columbians deserve a government that brings people together, respects differing viewpoints, and focuses on practical solutions and measurable results.
Let us move forward united, support our new leader, support our caucus, and work together to build a safer, more prosperous, and more affordable British Columbia for everyone.
United we can win. Divided we guarantee another term of NDP government... Now the work begins!

Iain, I am incredibly proud of what you have accomplished throughout this campaign. You ran a respectful, professional, and principled race, and the volunteers who stood beside you were among the finest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. They worked tirelessly for your campaign and, more importantly, for the future of British Columbia.
My sincere hope is that when the next election comes, you will choose to run for MLA. British Columbia needs your experience, dedication, integrity, and diplomacy in the Legislature. You have demonstrated the kind of leadership that brings people together and puts the interests of citizens first. People like you represent all British Columbians, and our province would be stronger with your voice and leadership helping to shape its future.
Earlier today I reached out to @KerryLynneFindl to congratulate her on her historic win, and also to wish her the wisdom, judgement, and fortitude required to chart a path ahead that best delivers on the potential of B.C., to the benefit of all.
I have also reached out to @NVanCaroline@PeterMilobar and @yuri_fulmer wishing them well as life returns to something resembling “normal” in the days ahead.
As I have said often in the last six months, it was a privilege to take part in the competition.
BC Conservative members,
I am honoured and humbled to be chosen as your next leader of the BC Conservative Party.
Thank you to every member who placed their trust in me.
Together we will defeat the NDP and restore prosperity to British Columbia.

@Shuswapland We need to break the cycle of addiction and mental health, and also focus on actionable preventative solutions. No one wants to talk about prevention, and that really pisses me off.
As the critic for Citizen Services, I dedicated significant time to committee debates and spent countless hours questioning the NDP's actions. Despite this, they rushed their controversial Freedom of Information (FOI) bill through by designating it a confidence matter at the last minute, ultimately relying on the Speaker’s tie-breaking vote to secure its approval.
Why take such drastic measures? A government that feels the need to diminish access to information is fully aware of its intentions.
The residents of British Columbia do not require increased secrecy; they deserve a government that is prepared to respond to their inquiries.
Bill 9 complicates that process.
As we approach May 30th and the announcement of the next leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, I want to congratulate all of the leadership candidates who stepped forward to serve. Putting your name forward for leadership is no small undertaking, and each candidate has demonstrated a commitment to the future of our province.
Tomorrow's result is important, but what happens afterward is even more important. Whoever earns the confidence of the membership must unite conservatives, free-enterprise supporters, and voters across the centre, centre-right, and right who want a stronger, more prosperous British Columbia. We cannot afford to divide our movement or split the vote. British Columbians deserve a credible, united alternative focused on affordability, public safety, economic growth, healthcare, education, and restoring confidence in government.
While we may have differences of opinion, we share a common goal: protecting our province, our communities, our families, and the opportunities that make British Columbia such a special place to live, work, and raise future generations.
I also want to give a huge shout-out to Trevor Halford and the entire BC Conservative Caucus. Over the past months, they have demonstrated the power of teamwork, discipline, and principled opposition. Their efforts have helped hold the BC NDP government accountable and have shown British Columbians what can be accomplished when elected representatives work together with purpose and conviction.
Congratulations to all the candidates. Tomorrow we will choose a leader. The day after, we must come together as one team focused on earning the trust of British Columbians and building a better future for our province.

After hearing BC Hydro CEO Charlotte Mitha speak at the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, I came away encouraged by the ambition, but still concerned about whether British Columbia can realistically meet the scale of future energy demand tied to electrification, AI, housing, and industrial growth.
BC Hydro’s long-term vision is significant, but major questions remain around baseload power, grid reliability, infrastructure investment, affordability, and whether current renewable strategies alone will be enough to support B.C.’s future competitiveness.
I share some thoughts, key takeaways, and recommendations in my latest blog:

Experience matters in this race - because BC cannot afford guesswork.
I was featured by CHEK News on the issues that matter: fixing BC’s record deficit, repealing DRIPA, improving BC Ferries, and getting major projects moving again.
The NDP have left BC with chaos, debt, delays, and decline. We need a leader who is ready on day one - not someone learning on the job.
I have the government experience, Treasury Board experience, cabinet experience, and business leadership to take them on and win.
Voting is open now until Friday, May 29 at 8:00 am.
Please vote. I would be grateful for your #1 spot on the ballot and your consideration for #2.
Experience matters. Let’s defeat the NDP and get BC back on track.

I am deeply concerned about the direction of politics in British Columbia right now. My only hope is that whoever wins the leadership will focus on keeping the party united and grounded in common sense solutions that truly address the issues impacting everyday British Columbians — affordability, responsible budgets, education, economic development, healthcare, public safety, and fairness for ALL British Columbians.
What worries me most is hearing talk that if certain candidates do not win, some may split off to create another centre-left/liberal-style party or align with groups like OneBC, which many people view as increasingly divisive, extreme, and intolerant of differing opinions and political values. That path would only fracture the vote further and hand more power back to the NDP.
British Columbians are tired of division, ideological warfare, and political infighting. We need mature leadership, respectful dialogue, and a coalition focused on solutions — not egos, factions, or purity tests. If the right and centre continue splintering into smaller groups, we risk undoing the momentum that so many people worked hard to build. The priority must be the future of British Columbia, not personal political ambitions.
