BCA deeply mourns the loss of Professor Benjamin Zephaniah, an extraordinary poet, performer, patron, and collaborator. In honor of his enduring legacy, we pledge to sustain his mission of celebrating and safeguarding Black history and culture. https://t.co/kYzfbzf0uH
Such terribly sad news. RIP Benjamin Zephaniah, trailblaizing poet, force of nature and colleague @Bruneluni, which we both joined in 2011. I first saw him perform at the Albany Empire, as it was then called, in 1982. https://t.co/rlo8SZxDQ0
So sorry to hear of the passing of my wonderful old friend #benjaminzephaniah We used to write music together in the 90’s and he spent evenings showing me his poetry and Wing Chung moves. He was fluent in Urdu and used to tell me stories of how he’d surprise Pakistani shopkeepers by talking to them in their own language. Very very special man. Funny, erudite, versatile and hugely gifted. I will miss him.
Saddened to hear that Benjamin Zephaniah has passed away. I was lucky enough to have him as a teacher when I studied my MA @Bruneluni He captivated us with his down to earth way and inspired us with his stories and words. Thank you Benjamin! R.I.P 🙏🏾
