RWANDAN WOMEN IN UK MARKET VISIT:
➡️ London & Birmingham
I would like to sincerely thank @ITCnews through its @ITC_SheTrades, Government of Rwanda, @RwandaInUK, @PSF_Specialized, @RDBrwanda, @RwandAgriExport, and all stakeholders who continuously create opportunities for Rwandan women farmers and exporters to access international markets.
1. This study visit has been incredibly productive, opening doors to meaningful connections and potential partnerships within the UK. It has reaffirmed that Rwandan products are not only competitive but highly valued in global markets.
2. I strongly encourage Rwandan women farmers especially those who are truly committed and serious about their work to RISE and actively explore opportunities beyond our borders. The UK and other international markets offer vast potential, but they demand professionalism: stability, quality, quantity, and consistency in supply. Those who can meet these standards will not only succeed but thrive.
3. To those already engaged in export particularly in fresh produce
I urge you to continuously refine and strengthen this business. Let us protect and elevate Rwanda’s reputation on the global stage by delivering excellence at every level.
At the same time, we must place greater value on smallholder farmers, who are the backbone of this sector. Too often, they invest immense effort into production, only to face low market prices that do not reflect their costs or hard work. This leads to significant losses and discouragement.
If we want at least 65% of our farmers to remain motivated and operate professionally, it is essential to build a fairer and more inclusive system. This requires strong collaboration between government institutions, private sector actors, development partners, and international organizations.
➡️Prior to this visit, we already believed in the value of our produce, now we have seen it firsthand: our products are highly appreciated here in the UK.
➡️So I say this with confidence:
Not a single woman who is committed to farming/export properly and does everything required should ever lack a market in the UK.
Last but not least,
May God bless everyone who made this opportunity possible 🙏
