Nerd alert: we've been using a tool for a year and my ADHD people love it. I took a risk after trying lots of different things. It's building exec function skills. And I remind people of things so much less. And there's a giant calendar that I don't transfer to paper. -->
We have to be willing to try. People want to like their neighbors. We are disconnected more than we’re divided. Being vulnerable and standing on someone’s front porch, extending a hand and inviting them to find the things you agree on — that’s a powerful moment of connection. /16
Got a new #bikebus kid today. @ACOGOK helmet incoming for her. And got the City to move a temporary construction barricade to allow us to safely ride. Feeling unstoppable. 😉
@cassidenaep@KamalaHarris Yes! Thinking about the Surgeon General's recent warning about parental stress. (I swim in ACEs/ Protective Factors all day for work.) By not investing in child & elder care supports, we're charting a course towards long-term health effects, further compounding the current issue!
“The estimated value of the three separate shipments was $342,000, or less than $3 per Bible, according to databases that use customs data to track exports and imports. The minimum price for the Trump-backed Bible is $59.99”
@cassidenaep@KamalaHarris We’ve just hit the point for needing home nursing during hospice and it is $30k/month where my inlaws live. We alternate workdays so we’re not paying childcare, but the sandwich is still real.
Our DOTs don’t want to take responsibility. They want to believe they can prevent road deaths with a tweet or reliance on law enforcement, road users or, FFS, children. They cannot. They are culpable. Only our DOTs can build safe systems. Only they can prevent crash deaths.
Do you know what is cheap, ubiquitous, effective and ALWAYS educates and enforces? Cement.
@USDOT can communicate with drivers via narrow lanes, chicanes, barriers and bollards. Instead, they send the vulnerable to their deaths and remind them to keep their heads on a swivel.
The automobile industry spends $20 *Billion* a year on advertising. About half ($10Bn) is devoted to ACTIVELY PROMOTING DANGEROUS DRIVING. That’s *without* the movie chase scenes. For perspective @NHTSAgov *entire* budget is ~$1Bn/year. We are bringing Canva to a gun fight.
You see, we recognized a LONG time ago (Massachusetts in the 1640s) that it was the COMMUNITY'S responsibility to bear the cost of educating its children. Why? Because even if you don't have kids in schools, you 100% benefit from having educated youth (5/16)
The study in which all my favorite things to discuss on the internet combine… religion, gender, governance, peacemaking, and… mobility/urban planning?
😬Also as a pacifist woman who bikes in religious Oklahoma, I have, shall we say, much anecdotal evidence to add to this!
