It’s been a rough few years in tech for women. still thinking about how much this picture means for all of us, and especially to young women about what’s possible.
A lot of founders should not raise venture capital, and I think we do them a disservice when we imply otherwise.
An angel round might get you to $1M in revenue. Profits could take you to $5M. Sell for $20M while owning 80%, and you have $16M.
Venture capital is a different game. You’re expected to scale fast and spend to match. That only makes sense if you have a chance to redefine the market you're in. Most businesses are better off lean and independent.
Know your number before you raise and ask whether venture actually gets you there faster.
With 10 days to kickoff, the @wlootechweek calendar is getting BUSY. 😮💨
If you're attending the week, you'll now be able to bookmark events, track your RSVP status, and avoid scheduling conflicts using the new Saved Events tab on the @wygo_world calendar.
Everything we build is downstream of direct feedback from ambitious community organizers -- If you host events & tech week has put you in contact with our product for the first time, would love to set up a direct chat for feedback / feature ideas
See you all next week!! :D

For years, @avarma has been one of the most important people in Toronto tech without many outside the ecosystem fully understanding why.
He helped build Xtreme Labs. Autonomic sold to Ford. Xtreme’s story even brushes up against Tinder.
He has been described as “sort of the king of Toronto.” Others put it more bluntly: “What people don’t realize is that he was carrying Toronto and KW tech on his back.”
Now, with Mantle, he is building again.
My profile:
Imagine this: You start a company with a co-founder. It’s 50/50. Big dreams. Strong coffee. Great vibes.
Then 2 years later, one founder leaves… but keeps a huge chunk of equity.
That’s when things get messy. 🧵
As a design engineer, even the latest frontier models (Opus/Gemini) and tools struggle to provide help on UI work, until @Dessn_ai
The first tool that knows us, our codebase/design system, and our unwavering commitment to craft
Congrats on beta Dessn team!
