@rachnewport@barriecassidy I agree - It was like watching 5 yr olds playing a game of journalists. 2019 was a new low but last night was even lower - unbearable watching the disgraceful fawning over Birmingham, largely ignoring Plibersek then talking over her when she tried to answer (the dumb) questions.
There’s a cruel injustice when two Federal Ministers can take freely extendable mental health leave while 3.7 million Australians don’t have access to any paid leave - at all.
Call me a lying cow, but rape culture thrives when Government leaders block investigation, minimise the reality of abuse, blame victims and hide behind a rhetoric of protecting the law. Patriarchy in action.
@Garrie_@SteveGibbonsXMP@TheKouk I agree with you on your assessment of the last 40’years and that both parties are complicit in increasing inequality. However, I don’t for one moment think that this is what Grant meant by his comments - this was more like Trump’s comments on Charlottesville
Good on the National Gallery of Australia for holding the Know My Name Exhibition - wonderful initiative and new perspectives through some extraordinary art - especially the magnificent Seven Sisters pieces. https://t.co/DJhsyRmY4M
I only met Sir Mekere Morauta a handful of times - one of which was the pleasure of having dinner with him and Sir Wilson Kamit in 2017. A statesman indeed very troubled about ensuring a better future for his nation. Rest In Peace.
Rest in Peace, Sir Mekere Morauta.
Here is an eloquent tribute prepared by Ross Garnaut for Mekere's 70th birthday in 2016. His friend since the 1960s and a long-standing professional colleague, Ross gives us the measure of the man https://t.co/v9bf5nKDU7
@informaleconomy No it was the actual article that I was referring to - just a question really as to the linking of the perception of the value of labour to titles ? Is this the way women really think? Interesting.
@informaleconomy Not sure here about the attribution of women “not valuing” their work bec they don’t assign job titles to it. Observationally I wld say women value their labour, measured otherwise, eg survival of their children. That this is not “counted” #marilynwaring is the “value” problem
