Oswald Chambers famously stated, “Jesus Christ can afford to be misunderstood; we cannot. Our weakness lies in always wanting to vindicate ourselves.”

He further expanded on this theme in a prayer, writing, “O Lord, deliver me from this lust of always vindicating myself.” Chambers argued that such a need for constant vindication destroys our soul’s faith in God & leads us to try to explain ourselves rather than trusting that Our Lord never explained anything, leaving misconceptions to correct themselves.

These are the WORST OF THE WORST:

When a nation "closes its eyes" to the murder of children, God moves his judgment away from just the murderer and onto *the nation*

It does not matter if there are "extenuating circumstances" or hormonal impulses for child murder, and God knew people's emotions could be manipulated to avoid justice falling.

This is why throughout the Old Testamemt when God commands justice (death penalty) to fall on murderers, He repeatedly says "Your eye shall not pity [her]."

And we have also (+Lindsey Clancy) been doing this for ~50 years in our nation, storing up wrath (Romans 1) for a day that, without repentance, will come.

Father, thank You that I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me (Galatians 2:20). Because Jesus died and rose again, I count myself dead to sin and alive to You in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:11).

Help me walk today in newness of life (Romans 6:4). Let sin no longer reign in me, but may I present myself fully to You as one who has been brought from death to life (Romans 6:12-13). Set my mind on things above, where Christ is (Colossians 3:1-3), and let the life of Jesus be revealed through me (2 Corinthians 4:10-11).

I have been made alive together with Christ (Ephesians 2:4-5). So today, let me live not for myself, but for Him who died and was raised for me (2 Corinthians 5:15).

I am alive because Christ is alive.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Charles Spurgeon on how Jesus Christ FEELS when a "horrible sinner" comes to Him in need of mercy:

"My Master never denied himself... If you go to him, you will find him at home and on the look-out for you: he will be more glad to receive you than you will be to be received, for he 'waits to be gracious.'

He is watching for you. I tell you again that he cannot reject you: that would be to alter his whole character and un-Christ himself.

If your answer is “Because I was obedient,” “I got baptized,” etc then it sounds like your trust is in yourself, not in Jesus alone.

Father, thank You that victory is already ours in Jesus Christ. Sin has been defeated, death has lost its sting, and the grave does not have the final word. Your Word declares, “Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).

Today, we stand not in our own strength, but in the finished work of Jesus. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. No accusation can condemn what Christ has redeemed, no darkness can overcome His light, and no enemy can undo what the cross accomplished.

So we walk today with confidence, gratitude, and joy. Jesus is risen. Jesus is reigning. Jesus is victorious. And because we belong to Him, His victory is ours.

In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
