@thomaswhartley I used to do the same. Great plan ruined by the kids ๐๐๐. Basically the kids misbehaved because they were bored and not engaged. Once I understood that, I could adapt the session to make it more interesting for them.
I'm thinking of letting my U10s team help design how they want their training sessions to look like. Has anyone done this? Anything I need to take into consideration? #grassrootsfootball#Grassroots#coaching
This is what it is all about for me. A message received yesterday from my opponents coach about my U9s mixed team. It's nice for him to reach out to me like that. #grassrootsfootball
@davecoaching Tell him to keep going Dave. He sent my boy (Isaac) to the shops at Futsal on Monday night with a lovely little step over and then slotted the ball home nicely. It was textbook.
Cesc Fabregas on a young Messi: "He was so small & skinny. He was dribbling all the time & didn't like to pass. He was always on the floor after fouls."
Messi didn't become the best by shying away from 1v1s. Let's encourage youngsters to get on the ball & express themselves!๐ชโฝ๏ธ
What troubles me as a foundation phase coach,is when MOTD pundits tell viewers that when defenders try it play out and it goes wrong they say they should judt get rid. Parents watch this and think that is how all football should be played. Its not.
I started an U9s Girls team in July, some U10s asked if they could come down just to try it. I let them, the more the merrier. The U10s have now started a team and they're moving up to their own age group. One of the parents sent me this earlier. Love it โค
@CamH___@TacticalPad Good session, very well thought out but are U8s is too young for this? Can you imagine if Messi,Ronaldo, Neymar, Iniesta etc being taught Rondos at U8s, would they have become the players they are? Shouldn't we be encouraging U8s to stay on the ball and be creative themselves?
@CoachGem Absolutely. Unfortunately the coach will have to manage the parents expectations from the start and get them to but into what you are doing. It'd difficult but possible
@cheggas01 I'd forgotten about all about that. I remember it now. What a manager Trev was. But yeah, Looking back, it wasn't the best footballing decision I made to play for Old Bank ๐๐๐
What a player but imagine how good he could've been if only he had a coach/parents when he was U7/8s telling him to pass, get rid or if in doubt get it out. ๐
@Coachjsmith90 There is no argument at grassroots level. They all pay the same yearly subs, so they should all get equal fane time. It can be frustrating if a kid isn't interested and taking fame time away from a kid who is into it. But what can you do. ๐คท
