@GeoffreyBoycott Fine game of cricket, the pitch was certainly helpful to the bowlers.
But at other times it was fairly placid as evinced by the Hill/Bess partnership and the splendid knock by Overton, also batsmen on both sides were guilty of rash strokes and bad leaves. GB would have handled it
@rcscribbler Just read Ad Lib, as someone the same age as yourself I can relate to many things in the book from childhood recollections to having shit cancer. But as you put it Reconciliation to absence is in the end the only viable strategy, thanks great book
@ACScricket Have you any info on the West Riding League, such as famous players who played in it. I faced a 15 year old Chris Silverwood back in 1990, he was pretty sharp even then!
@ConnorMOT92@OkaforSZN He had some excellent games for Leeds and is younger than when Raya joined Arsenal. Even just playing Cup games for the best team in the country is preferable to languishing at Elland Rd and just having the odd Under-21 outing
@StuartPenney1 It does seem incongruous the great saxophonist playing with the Stones but it works Rollins could play anything. I’m sure Charlie couldn’t believe it

@macnamara60 @fredfertang @lancscricket@BumbleCricket It was 74, Harry’s benefit raised £9,500 Geoffrey’s £20,639. Ten years later the Yorkshireman netted £147,954 from his testimonial a sizeable amount in those days
@jimmy_L_UFC@LUFCacad@LUFC He played well his distribution was good and he seems to have a presence which all good keepers need.
A bit fortunate near the end when the Spurs striker blasted over from close range after he parried a shot
@LUFCacad How about rescheduling for the LNER as originally intended?
Last season’s game against the same opponents also got taken away from York, I think they’d get a decent crowd
@sowetokinch Catching up with the show on BBC Sounds, just to let you know Andrew Cyrille is alive and very active!
I first saw him playing with Cecil in the mid 70s, phenomenal drummer good piece in Downbeat on him recently
