When Richard Hughes arrived at Liverpool, the reaction was almost unanimous. Even Journalists were foaming at the mouth.

"A brilliant appointment, a master negotiator”, the perfect successor to the structure that had delivered years of success under Michael Edwards.

Liverpool had supposedly found another elite operator.

But football is not won through reputations.

It is won through decisions.

And when you examine Hughes’ time at Liverpool, the biggest concern is not one bad signing or one failed negotiation.
It is the lack of a clear recruitment strategy.
