A few words for @DAZNBoxing on a huge weekend coming up for Dalton Smith.
Fighter of the Year could be his with a big win over Puello, but more importantly, victory could open the door for an even bigger year in 2027.
That’s boxing. The Walks way.

I don't agree with the comments made by James McClean but this post from his wife provides some context.
That's important before a reflex response defending mental health awareness manifests as lashing out at someone else — McClean in this instance.
The stigma around mental health really needs to be tackled. Progress has been made over the decades but nowhere near enough. Just look at the pitiful investment in mental health from Stormont.
The North has more inter-generational trauma than many other places due to our violent history — not just the Troubles. It can be passed down through families; through learned behaviour.
Derry, as the most deprived area on these islands, faces much higher levels of poor mental health because deprivation and poor mental health go hand-in-hand. Creggan, where McClean is from, has high levels of deprivation. James should be sensitive to those issues but that doesn't mean he deserves to be attacked.
James, from what I've heard/read over the years, has done plenty of charitable work. Helped those in need.
James made an ill-advised remark that feeds the very stigma about speaking out: that seeking help is a weakness.
It is not weak. It can and does save lives.
That stigma needs to be smashed. Those with high profiles can make a real difference.
If he was to use this as an opportunity to educate himself more on these issues and to shine a light on the need for far greater investment in mental health services, then a negative could very quickly be turned into a positive.
@broomylfc@PaulSmithJnr Just to get a pro license football your talking 5 years minimum of training and testing, that’s why I mentioned football. In boxing you read a book, pass a course which is easy and do a first aid course lol it’s ridiculous in comparison. That’s why I made that comparison.
@broomylfc@PaulSmithJnr Mate if you look at my other tweets on this case I do mention other coaches who have never boxed pro but they had experience from being around the Ams or working under other top coaches, two of my own coaches never boxed as pros but gained a lot of experience in being in the game
8 years ago today at the Park Theatre in Las Vegas
Mick Conlan stopped Nicola Cipolletta in round 7 to move to 9-0 as a pro
Mick retired earlier this year with a record of 20-4, have fought twice for a World title during his 9 years as a pro
@MichaelGomezJnr@MisfitsBoxing Lad run it back and get your victory on paper this time, boxing is stinking at times. 9-3 8-4 type of fight on my card for you.
* FIGHT NEWS *
John Boyd (6-0) will take on David Kuehnl (4-1) in a Middleweight contest on the JB Promotions & Conlan Boxing #ANEWERA card at the Devenish complex on Friday, November 27th
@BryanPWhitney@ph70230246 Exception to the rule mate, but as I’ve said in previous tweets. I’m not saying a top pro or one of the greats, those two you mentioned both had years of experience and had played at a lower but decent level.
Boxing is a mad game. In football, most managers have played professionally before going into management.
In boxing, any Tom, Dick or Harry who can hold pads, without ever having boxed competitively, can end up training the equivalent of a Premier League team.
Inconceivable 🤣
Wardley shouldn’t have been in there that quick after the first fight. A tough tough man in the first fight which in my opinion took years of his career and life, should have rested up the rest of this year and got back to things next year. Big DDD is an animal.
Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley 2 was over in just two rounds - but there was plenty for the Smith Brothers to get stuck into.

The lads break down Dubois’ brutal performance, the devastating right hand that changed the fight inside the opening 17 seconds, and why Wardley struggled to recover from the damage. Was the rematch too soon after their gruelling first encounter? And where does Wardley go from here after two stoppage defeats?
The brothers also discuss whether the referee and Wardley’s corner should have stepped in sooner, the difference in the fighters’ technical fundamentals, and what the result means for Dubois and the heavyweight division.
Plus, there’s a controversial decision on the undercard as Michael Gomez misses out on the British title, sparking a debate about judging and the future of British boxing.
All that, plus a look at the upcoming Joshua Buatsi vs Willy Hutchinson fight.

@Ray91871@salopianmole Fair play to him, I give him credit for that. Wardley had a coach before Ben who has been forgot about also. Does he get no credit? 13-0 12kos at that stage, Fabio is a credit to himself for reaching those heights with limited experience, unbelievable career.
@salopianmole No its at boxing in general, go & find me a coach in any other major sport that can take the lead roll as head coach with no experience. Not just experience as a fighter, plenty of good coaches never boxed but were around boxing and learned under great coaches or work in amateurs
