Earlier this month, D23 hosted the Superintendents Meeting for NYCPS. Here we welcomed and celebrated our new Supervising Superintendent Maribel Torres-Hulla and our new First Deputy Chancellor Danielle Giunta.

Principal Keva Pitts-Girard opened the first UFT Teacher Center in District 23 after years of not having one. We look forward to the wonderful work Coach Jacqueline Reid will do for the school and for teachers across District 23 !!
As part of our ongoing commitment to structured literacy and family partnership, we’re excited to launch this week’s Parent Tip of the Week, explicitly designed to strengthen oral language and phonemic awareness at home for our early childhood and elementary scholars.

D23 Leadership with Relay & NYC Reads. “Coaching Teachers for High Quality Instruction” - District 23 Leaders participated in a thought provoking, capacity building workshop on “Developing Effective Coaching Practices”. This was a joint collaboration between Relay and NYC Reads.
District 23 hosted its 3rd Annual State of the District Town Hall at Victory Music and Dance. Community leaders, Parents, 73rd Precinct, Principals, Teachers, Parent Coordinators, and Students were present. Triad Consulting held workshops that engaged parents in many topics!
Leaders in their development phase need supportive coaching and risk taking opportunities. Leaders who lead leaders need to be reflective and keen to build trust. We made sure to use books to guide our conversations. I’m super proud of all of the work they do for Brownsville!!
