Today is Flag Day.
The flag flies at the Midco offices, at our project sites, and on the work trucks of crews traveling the country.
To everyone who has served, who serves, and who carries the values the flag represents into their everyday work, we appreciate you.
To effectively support a field-driven business, you have to understand the reality of the work. This week, members of our office and HR staff stepped out from behind their desks to experience a core part of our field operations firsthand.
The goal wasn't just to observe, but to actively participate in the foundational safety and physical requirements our field crews manage daily.
Fall Protection Certification: The office team underwent standard fall protection training, learning the precise safety protocols, equipment inspections, and compliance measures required on-site.
The Climb: Fully outfitted in harnesses and safety gear, the team put the training into practice by climbing an on-site tank to experience the environment our technicians and divers work in every day.
When administrative and administrative teams truly understand the mechanics of core operations, it changes how we recruit, how we manage risk, and how we support our people. Experiencing the physical demands and strict safety parameters of the field ensures our support staff is fully aligned with our operational reality.
A big thank you to our field crew for guiding the training and keeping compliance front and center.
Steel and infrastructure underwater can be repaired two ways. Pull the asset out of service, dewater it, fix it on the surface, and put it back. Or send a certified crew down to do the work while it stays online.
Midco handles in-service repair where downtime would cost more than the repair itself. For dam gates and spillway structures, intake screens and trash racks, sheet piling and bulkhead, pipeline supports and submerged industrial steel, certified underwater welding is the right tool. The work happens in place, with HD video documentation and welder qualifications matched to the metal being repaired.
Potable water tanks work differently. ANSI AWWA standards prohibit welding inside drinking water tanks because of contamination risk to the water supply. For tank work, our in-service capability covers cleaning, coating assessment, sediment removal, and inspection. Every step is credentialed for potable water, and the tank stays full while we work.
Over two decades of inland underwater repair on live systems under ANSI AWWA and OSHA standards.

Some underwater inspections benefit from a remotely operated vehicle. ROVs reach spaces too tight for a diver, maintain visibility in heavily contaminated water, and document infrastructure in environments where prolonged diver exposure is not the safest choice.
Midco operates ROV systems alongside our commercial diving teams. The right tool for the job depends on the conditions, the access points, and what the inspection actually needs to capture. Long pipeline interiors with limited diver access, narrow intake structures with confined entry, confined-space tank interiors, contaminated industrial waters, and pre-dive surveys that scope the work before crews enter all play to the ROV's strengths.
Some inspections require the tactile assessment and decision-making that only a trained diver can deliver. We make the call based on what the project actually needs, not what is easiest to deploy.
ANSI AWWA and OSHA certified across every inspection. ADCI-rated commercial divers and ROV-trained operators on every team.

Summer is construction season for water infrastructure. New intake structures get built, pipeline expansions tie into existing systems, bridge piers get reinforced, sheet piling goes in, and pump stations build out new wet wells.
Midco's underwater construction crews support marine construction projects across the country, working alongside general contractors, engineering firms, and owner's representatives to keep the dive component on schedule and aligned with the broader project. That support covers below-water rigging and lift coordination plus structural inspections during construction phases.
Construction schedules don't have room for surprises. Daily dive logs and HD video records make handoffs cleaner and keep the engineering team informed as the work progresses.
Over 23 years of inland marine construction support, with ANSI AWWA and OSHA certified ADCI commercial divers on every project.

Picture a Friday afternoon at a water treatment facility. The intake screen seizes up and flow drops. By 4:47 PM the control room is calling vendors, trying to find a crew that can dive tomorrow morning.
This is the call Midco's 24/7/365 dispatch is built for. We answer the phone outside of business hours, on weekends, on holidays, in winter, in summer. Our crews mobilize when other contractors have locked the office for the night.
Our dispatch line is answered by real people, not an answering service. ADCI-rated commercial divers are ready to mobilize on short notice with a safe-assessment-first, documented-response-second, repair-plan-third approach. HD video documentation starts on the first dive, and our team coordinates with your engineering and operations staff throughout the response.
Inland water infrastructure does not break on a 9-to-5 schedule. Our team is built for that reality, with ANSI AWWA and OSHA certifications behind over 23 years of inland emergency response.

Midco's main office sits in Rapid City, South Dakota, with a second location in Peoria, Arizona. Beyond those two physical offices, we maintain 13 regional contact numbers across the country.
That network exists for a reason. Inland water infrastructure failures don't respect geography. A municipal water tank inspection in the Southeast, a dam gate repair in the Mountain West, and an intake structure dredging job on the West Coast can all be in the same week's schedule.
Our regional presence reaches Chicago, Omaha, Minneapolis, Louisville, Memphis, and Columbia through the Midwest and South; Tulsa, Loveland, Billings, and Salt Lake City across the Plains and Mountain West; and San Francisco, Phoenix, and Rapid City through the West and Northern Plains. The same crew of certified, ADCI-rated divers travels to where the work is, and the same ANSI AWWA and OSHA standards apply on every project.
Commercial diving is local in the sense that the work happens on your site, and national in the sense that the team showing up is the same group of trained professionals every time.

When equipment goes overboard, a vehicle ends up in a lake, or critical machinery sinks below the surface, the first 48 hours matter most. Items left underwater face shifting sediment and progressive corrosion. The faster the recovery, the better the outcome.
Midco's commercial divers handle search and recovery operations across inland waterways, lakes, reservoirs, and industrial sites nationwide. Our ADCI-rated crews are experienced in the low-visibility conditions these recoveries usually involve, and we combine systematic search patterns with sonar mapping and HD video documentation suitable for insurance claims. When evidence is involved, we coordinate directly with law enforcement; when the timeline is tight, our 24/7/365 dispatch puts crews in motion fast.
Over two decades of inland diving means our crews know how to navigate contaminated water, confined recovery zones, and the urgency that comes with a lost asset. ANSI AWWA and OSHA certified across every operation.

You probably did not think about a commercial diver when you flipped on a light switch this morning.
More than 20 percent of the world's electricity comes from hydropower, and commercial divers are essential to the design, construction, and maintenance of dams and hydroelectric facilities. Drove across a bridge on your commute? Commercial divers helped inspect and maintain the piers holding it up. Filled a glass from the tap? Commercial divers helped keep the municipal system that delivered that water clean and operational.
The work our divers do runs beneath the surface of everyday life. Most people never see it. Most people do not need to. But when infrastructure fails, when emergencies hit, when compliance deadlines approach, commercial diving becomes visible very quickly.
Midco Diving and Marine Services exists because communities depend on underwater infrastructure every day. Our job is to keep that infrastructure working so yours does not have to.

HAZMAT commercial diving is a capability you confirm before anyone enters the water. Price alone will not tell you what you need to know about a contractor's readiness.
The environments our crews work in include biological contamination, chemical exposure, and radiological conditions that require specialized equipment, training, and protocols. These are not jobs for general-purpose dive contractors. They require divers who have prepared specifically for the hazards involved and supervisors who will stop work the moment a condition exceeds what the team is equipped to handle.
Common HAZMAT scenarios Midco handles:
🔹 Sewage lagoon and wastewater treatment facility work
🔹 Industrial process tanks with residual chemical exposure
🔹 Power plant cooling systems with contamination concerns
🔹 Petroleum and fuel storage facilities requiring inspection or repair
🔹 Contaminated sediment assessment and remediation support
Our HAZMAT projects begin with a thorough site evaluation. We coordinate with your environmental health and safety team, confirm personal protective equipment requirements, review decontamination procedures, and document the entire operation from entry to exit. Clients receive high definition video documentation and compliance-ready reporting that supports regulatory requirements and internal safety audits.
For operations directors, plant managers, and environmental compliance officers, hiring the wrong contractor for a HAZMAT project can trigger regulatory action, worker exposure incidents, and liability consequences that outlast the project itself. Hiring the right team protects your facility, your people, and your career.

Every commercial diver has a story about something unexpected they found underwater.
Keys, tools, watches, equipment that went overboard decades ago. Vehicles, boats, debris from storms. Artifacts that tell a local history story. Evidence that closes a case. The underwater world holds a lot of what the surface world has lost, and commercial divers are often the people who retrieve it.
Midco provides marine salvage, search and recovery, and evidence collection services for municipalities, industrial clients, insurance companies, and law enforcement. Whether the job is a dropped pump in an industrial lagoon or a critical component that slipped into open water, our crews combine training with problem-solving to bring assets back to the surface.
What is the strangest or most interesting thing you have ever lost in water? Comment below. We have probably been asked to find something similar.

What separates Midco from other commercial diving companies is the people who show up on site. Equipment and training matter, but they only work because of the crews behind them.
Our crews are built around seasoned commercial divers, meticulous safety coordinators, and project managers who solve problems before they escalate. Every team member meets or exceeds industry certification standards, including commercial diving credentials, confined space training, and HAZMAT preparation. We do not cut corners on preparation because our clients cannot afford the consequences of a shortcut.
What our clients tell us matters most:
🔹 Crews who anticipate challenges instead of reacting to them
🔹 Clear communication from first call through final report
🔹 Adaptability when site conditions change mid-project
🔹 Professionalism that reflects well on the client who hired us
🔹 Results that meet specification and compliance standards
Marine and underwater environments are unpredictable. No two job sites are identical. What our people bring to every project is the judgment to handle those differences without compromising safety, quality, or timeline.
This is why municipalities, industrial facilities, and engineering partners across the country return to Midco year after year. Trust is earned through consistency, and our team has spent decades earning it one project at a time.
Comment with the one trait you value most in a contractor's team.

Some underwater jobs require a specific kind of crew. Contaminated water, hazardous materials, confined spaces, and environments most divers will not enter.
Midco Diving and Marine Services has built a reputation for handling high risk and HAZMAT projects that other companies decline. Our commercial divers train specifically for conditions involving chemical exposure, biological contamination, radiation, zero visibility, and confined entry. When a job requires this level of preparation, experience matters more than price.
Who calls us for HAZMAT work:
🔹 Municipal wastewater facilities managing equipment failures
🔹 Industrial plants requiring work in process tanks or pits
🔹 Power generation facilities with contaminated cooling systems
🔹 Environmental remediation projects involving contaminated sediments
🔹 Emergency response teams handling chemical or biological incidents
Every HAZMAT dive begins before our crew arrives on site. We review site conditions, confirm personal protective equipment requirements, coordinate with your safety officer, and document the plan. When our divers enter the water, every variable we can control has already been accounted for.
For facility managers and operations directors dealing with contaminated environments, the real question is who you call when a standard dive contractor cannot or will not do the work.

What you cannot see inside your water tank can shut down your entire system.
Sediment buildup, corrosion, biofilm, and structural degradation often develop quietly over years. By the time symptoms reach the tap, the problem has already become expensive. Proactive inspection is the most reliable way to catch issues before they become emergencies, compliance violations, or public health incidents.
Midco commercial divers perform comprehensive water tank inspections that go beyond what surface-level assessments can reveal. Our teams enter storage tanks in service, document conditions with high definition video, and provide detailed reports that support your maintenance planning, budget justification, and regulatory compliance.
What an inspection reveals:
🔹 Sediment and deposit accumulation affecting capacity
🔹 Coating condition and corrosion progression
🔹 Structural integrity of walls, seams, and supports
🔹 Biological growth and contamination risk indicators
🔹 Inlet, outlet, and overflow system function
Prevention is always less expensive than remediation. A tank inspection that catches a coating failure early saves you from a contamination event, a boil order, and the budget conversation that follows. For risk-averse utility managers and public works directors, this is exactly the documentation you want in hand before anyone asks questions.
