NEW: Keir Starmer accuses Elon Musk of “trying to whip up division” in UK following murder of Henry Nowak.
Speaking on a visit in Yorkshire, PM says: “We need to assert who we are as a country because Musk again has been interfering in our politics in the last few days, trying to whip up division. That is not who we are in Britain.”
@Martina British values he says… last time I checked it was a British value to support the law of the land. Especially when you’re an elected politician. The Supreme Court’s ruling was very clear and in my mind very correct!
It's funny and revealing, isn't it?
If you're a leftist seething over your own guys Piker and Cenk getting banned from the UK, the logical move would be to hammer the government's broader censorious bullshit on speech.
After all, they've pulled the same crap on conservative, right-wing voices not that long ago. Free speech is either for everyone or it's selective tyranny. Easy target, right?
But nah. You didn't go there. Instead, you sprinted straight to the conspiracy, that it's all "at the behest of Israel." That's Piker's line, and plenty of others are parroting it. Greenwald too.
Are you guys actually dumb, or just so deep in the fever swamp you can't see how this looks to normal people? Even if you believe it's true, tactically, it's political suicide because anyone normal with EYES can see that:
- Antisemitism and hardcore anti-Zionism aren't just tolerated in the UK right now - they're celebrated in the streets, week after week.
- Jews are getting stabbed in broad daylight, like the recent Golders Green attack. Synagogues and Jewish sites are targeted
- Labour just banned a bunch of conservative, pro-Israel American and European activists and speakers from entering the UK for Tommy Robinson's march
- The Home Secretary behind these decisions, Shabana Mahmood, is a Muslim critic of Israel, hardly a Zionist puppet. She's the one issuing these bans
- The UK has sanctioned far-right Israeli ministers Ben-Gvir and Smotrich, threatened to arrest Netanyahu if he shows up, restricted arms sales to Israel, and pushed toward recognizing the State of Palestine.
Yet according to Cenk, Piker, and the usual crew, this Labour government is somehow beholden to Israel? Give me a break.
This is clearly a mind virus at work, a toxic fungus that reduces every issue to one agenda item - that Israel controls everything; that Israel is behind everything.
Everything defaults to this one script, even in the face of overwhelming counter evidence.
Overplaying your hand this hard just exposes the infection to everyone watching. Normal people see the contradiction immediately. You can't gaslight observable reality forever - it only makes the rest of your movement look completely unhinged.
If you actually cared about free speech, you'd call out the UK's pattern across the board. But you can't because the mind virus won't let you.
@CharlotteCGill Being ridiculous is the only policy position our government consistently delivers on. In fact they excel at being ridiculous, it’s frankly their core competence. With a bit of luck we might just even get a Ministry of Silly Walks soon.
Fun times.
@OlgaPatl That’s a very impressive attitude you have Olga. 99% of X would do well to learn from your example, myself included 😲
However in my defence… I mainly only get angry with my government 😇
@DrRebeccaTidy Devon and Cornwall police let my cousin down big time. Despite their well publicised failings in dealing with my cousins case, I still believe you’re correct in your assessment Rebecca.
HMRC has decided to punish 'nice pubs.'
They have ordered valuation officials to levy higher business rates on pubs that are in “attractive locations”, play an important role in the community, or are based in “character properties”. Pubs with playgrounds or those which serve a so-called "premium priced menu" will also be landed with higher taxes.
This is an extraordinarily disreputable approach to valuation but only to be expected once the independent Valuation Office was shoved under the control of HMRC by dim-witted Labour Minister James Murray. HMRC are as usual obsessed with extracting the maximum amount of cash from families & businesses
@DaisyBlakemore Hello Daisy,
Whatever comes next, I hope you know your honesty and good nature genuinely came across to people. I also sincerely hope that in time you return to politics, the country needs people of integrity and good character. Traits which you hold in abundance.
