.@stellacreasy would appear to be arguing that there is no meaningful distinction between male and female.
If there is no distinction then the categories are meaningless.
If there categories are meaningless then ‘male’ and ‘female’ cease to exist.
Yet we are not monomorphs.
If this is true it means the culmination of this process is now a proposal to reinforce gender stereotypes, with those who don't fit them having to justify themselves regardless of their biological sex.
Thus, the EHRC itself now seeking to legitimise stereotypes rather than tackle them.
@Edeaulx We had a regular offender in Glasgow. He’d turn up every year, smart as a carrot, festooned with medals. He was quite clearly ‘not all there’ and quite clearly harmless. Some folk got upset, I just enjoyed watching him enjoy himself.
Not quite sure if this is a case of utilitarianism or relativism. It reads like Ipso Facto utilitarianism but I suspect Mr Marsh is folllowing the zeitgeist which would make it relativism.
Henry "even if a few grannies get bullied into it" Marsh clarifies:
Agrees "yes, in principle", if there's some cases of coercion into 'assisted' death, the greater public good is satisfied.
"There is always a cost"
"But you justify that risk by saying more people benefit"
(Marsh regrets "crass" comment on "sacrificing grannies": "I didn't realise it was going to get into the public domain")
While I can agree with the sentiment, it would be remiss to point out that the NHS and welfare state they envisioned is very different in size and scope from what we have today.
I always found it deeply disturbing the number of politicians who sign up to Moral Relativism. With moral relativism there is no objective right or wrong. What determines the moral worth of an action is only whether it is popular or not, accepted or not.
Truly abhorrent.
AND ANOTHER THING. 85% of Texans feel that our abortion laws are too restrictive.
You aren’t just psychopaths, you are also WHOLLY unpopular.
Kick rocks, weirdos. You don’t own our bodies.
I suspect I'm one of the two guys Romy is talking about. Regardless, she's describing my situation.
I'm giving myself about another year of searching for a partner, but will then pursue single fatherhood.
I'm still hopeful it won't be necessary, but in the end I can't allow myself to miss out on raising children. Even having gone this long without them is an agony.

If taxes rise significantly in the autumn budget I for one will be pleased. It shows a government getting to grips with the deficit and while I wish they would grip spending too it is a start.
Painful? Yes. Needed? Definitely.
@UnimportantO As a migrant and the son of a migrant I am unsurprisingly in favour of migration.
But it seems to me that migration in the UK has not been managed well. Any social change of this pace and scale will generate tension, fear and uncertainty which is ripe for exploitation.
@HuwSayer@edwardstrngr@JonHaidt There is a cultural aspect too. Having raised children in the UK, US and Europe there are significant differences. The US and UK are most alike. Europe remains very much as I remember from my childhood.
I'm an atheist and recovering Catholic -but since reading about the heroism of LNER staff member & life saver Samir Zitouni in the face of a psychotic knife attacker - whilst fighting age british males fled to hide in the toilets etc like many in here im drawn towards Mecca
@HarryBucknall@BritishArmy@PoppyLegion My limited experience of dealing with @PoppyLegion with regards to veteran welfare issues has, I am sorry to say, been lamentable. Multiple calls and emails in, only one reply which gave me an email address to engage with that has not replied.
