It’s every tennis event.
If I was playing I’d be so distracted by it.
It’s also so upsetting to me… they’re so young. They have no idea their lung capacity and their lives are already limited…

The Pope is making exactly our point. LLMs “may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand.”

This is the core epistemic fault line.

Most AI evaluation is still based on one assumption: if a system statistically approximates human behaviour, then it is close to human intelligence.

But approximation is not intelligence.
Simulation is not understanding.

LLMs can produce the right answer without knowing why it is right. They can simulate empathy without feeling. They can imitate judgment without responsibility. They can generate coherent explanations without having a world to which those explanations are accountable.

Stop confusing behavioural similarity with cognitive equivalence.

Human understanding is embodied, affective, relational, motivational, and normative. It is not just the production of plausible text.

FYI "AI detectors" are notoriously SH*T and flag stuff as "AI" simply for being grammatically correct or having correct spelling etc.

So not only is AI replacing, destroying the environment w/ Data Centers (and causing infrasound), not only is AI replacing jobs (that the AI should NOT be doing) (Generalized LLMs are not meant for this) now you can have your entire academic degree/career revoked and destroyed because some AI software told some BOOMER that "you totally faked this paper" again, WHEN HE HAS THE ENTIRE PROOF THAT HE WROTE IT, IN HIS GOOGLE DOCUMENTS AND EDITING HISTORY.

AI has massive potential to do good in the world.

The problem is its being implemented by absolute morons who believe anything ChatGPT or Claude tells them—welcome to the future nightmare dystopia.

My long covid started with psychosis around the six week mark of my infection. I was in the hospital for 14 days. So whenever I see a paper like this where they show generation of anti-NMDAR auto-antibodies, which are associated with anti-NMDAR autoimmune encephalitis, it always makes me wonder if that's what happened to me.

When I came out of the hospital they put me under the care of a psychiatrist. Nobody thought it had anything to do with long covid, they just treated me like a mental health patient. I felt awful, I was having muscle facilitations, sleep difficulties, difficulty with hand/eye coordination. I went and had a few private MRIs, which the psychiatrist took as a sign of me "regressing", that is she said I was delusional for trying to figure out what was wrong with me since the doctors already determined it (they didn't, they defaulted to some arbitrary 'depression', while also admitting they couldn't find the reason). And of course she tried to increase my meds of anti-psychotics so I'd stop trying to figure out my own health condition.

That's one area of medicine I think someone should take a wrecking ball to. The idea that someone can diagnose you with a mental illness with zero blood work, zero diagnostic markers, just one person's opinion, which can be absolutely life changing, is ludicrous. Even now I have the opinions of multiple experts including neuro-immunologists that that event was most likely related to the covid19 infection, it's still hard to change the official narrative in my file.

There is a level of financial fear that comes with chronic illness that most healthy people never have to think about.

You’re paying more money to survive while your body is simultaneously making it harder to earn money.

Because eventually it’s not just symptoms you have to worry about.

Every flare up has consequences attached to it.

Missed work.
Reduced income.
Medical bills.
Recovery time.
Medications and copays.

People talk about chronic illness like it only affects health, but for a lot of people it slowly affects financial stability, independence, and your entire sense of security too.
