The Catholic Church traditionally dedicates the month of July to the Precious Blood of Jesus.

This devotion has been recognized for centuries, dating back to Christ’s death on the Cross. Many saints were devoted to the Precious Blood of Jesus, particularly Saint Catherine of Siena, Saint Mary Magdalen de Pazzi, and Saint Gaspar del Bufalo.

Saint Gaspar del Bufalo, founder of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, and promoter of the devotion, said,
“We must let it be known how the Blood of Christ cleanses the souls and sanctifies them, particularly by means of the sacraments.”

Pope Pius IX officially instituted a feast dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ in 1849. Pope Pius X later assigned July 1 as the designated feast. However, after Vatican II, the Catholic Church traditionally dedicated the entire month of July to the Precious Blood.

Many graces can be obtained from this devotion, including spiritual protection, healing, deliverance from evil, growth in virtue, and a deeper understanding of God's mercy and love.

In honor of this month dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus, here are eight quick prayers you can recite throughout your day:

1) Prayer Before Praying by Saint Mary Magdalen de Pazzi

“Almighty Father, I place the Precious Blood of Jesus before my lips before I pray, that my prayers may be purified before they ascend to Your divine altar.”

2) Prayer of Saint Faustina

“O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a Fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You.”

3) Powerful Prayer to the Precious Blood of Jesus from Barnabas Nwoye

“Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, save us and the whole world!”

(Prayer allegedly given to Barnabas Nwoye by Our Lady in 1995. Prayer given Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur.)

4) Saint Catherine of Siena’s “Constant Prayer” to the Precious Blood of Jesus

"Precious Blood, ocean of divine mercy: Flow upon us! Precious Blood, most pure offering: Procure us every grace! Precious Blood, hope and refuge of sinners: Atone for us! Precious Blood, delight of holy souls: Draw us! Amen."

5) House Blessing through the Precious Blood of Jesus

"Precious Blood of Jesus, shed on the Cross for us, bless this house. Take it under Thy protection."

6) Prayer to the Precious Blood of Jesus from The Raccolta

“Eternal Father, I offer You the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ in atonement for my sins, and in supplication for the holy souls in Purgatory and for the needs of Holy Church.”

7) Prayer of Protection through the Precious Blood of Jesus by Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

“Lord Jesus, by faith in your merits, I now take your Precious Blood and sprinkle it over myself and my family right from the crown of my head to the very soles of my feet. Amen.

8) Prayer to the Precious Blood When Blessing Yourself with Holy Water

“By this Holy Water and by Your Precious Blood, Lord Jesus, wash away all my sins.”

Other longer form prayers include the Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, or the Chaplet of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ.
