1. We bring to readers an update in our investigation into the powerful, shadowy, individuals, holding stakes worth ~$80 million in Ghana's only state-backed gold refinery that should properly belong to the state.

2. We reveal exclusively that Bentsi-Enchill, the law firm tasked to do the due diligence on the so-called "international investors" behind the state-backed refinery could not proceed. The investors flat out refused. Yet, the government was not perturbed.

3. We have reaffirmed our suspicion that the said "international investors" are "ghosts" fronting for powerful people in Ghana. We again point to the role of Ghartey & Ghartey, a powerful law firm in Ghana, in vetting the bona fides of these shadowy investors.

4. We believe that we have shown enough for the bevy of actors in the aid and development finance space to take seriously our longstanding demand that Civil Society (CSO) actors become an integral part of the governance of all development projects in Africa.
