YEJI became famous as the Leader, Lead Vocalist, Rapper and Main Dancer of the hugely popular, chart-topping, record-breaking, top-selling group ITZY!
YEJI is famous for her fierce vocals and powerful stage presence, and has been one of K-pop’s most distinctive performers since the group’s debut in 2019. She's also an amazing dancer, and stage dominator, delivering explosive solo stages and high-energy moments that consistently steal the show. She has greatly contributed to ITZY's success around the world, but she's also a very successful solo artist, having made a very impressive and confident debut in 2025 with the EP 'Air', also showcasing her artistry as a composer!

YEJI passed her audition to join JYP Entertainment as a trainee in 2015, when she was just 15, with Twice's song "Like Ooh-Ahh". In 2017, she took part in the first episode of Stray Kids with future groupmates Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. In 2018, she made an appearance on SBS TV's 'The Fan', and impressed 2PM's Junho so much that he named her "JYP's secret weapon"! In January, 2019, Yeji became the official leader of Itzy and debuted with the group on February 12, 2019 on their first single album, 'It'z Different' and the music video for its lead single "Dalla Dalla". In March, 2021, Yeji was chosen as Studio Choom's "Artist of the Month", covering "River" by Bishop Briggs and opened up about her world of dance. In June 2022, Yeji & Ryujin, performed a cover of Bebe Rexha's "Break My Heart Myself" in the "Mix & Max" series by Studio Choom. In November 2023, Yeji & Chaeryeong appeared as mentors on SBS TV's reality survival series 'Universe Ticket' and on December 20, Yeji released the MV for her solo track "Crown On My Head" from Itzy's 8th EP 'Born To Be'! On December 1, 2024, Yeji released her first OST, "Think about you", for the romantic comedy series 'Love Your Enemy'.

YEJI released her much awaited solo debut EP 'AIR' on March 10 along with a sizzling music video for her self-penned lead single also tited "AIR". 'AIR' scored the 2nd Highest New Entry on both the Worldwide & European iTunes Album charts, landing at #4 and debuted at #3 on the Circle Album chart selling 323,566 units in its first week! It was certified Platinum shortly after by the KMCA!

Since her debut, YEJI has won several Awards as a member of ITZY, including the Digital Bonsang award at the 34th Golden Disc Awards. The phenomenal success of their debut led ITZY to become the 1st K-Pop girl group to achieve a "Rookie Grand Slam", winning all the Rookie of the Year awards at the 34th Golden Disc Awards, the 4th Asia Artist Awards, the 9th Gaon Chart Music Awards, the 2019 Genie Music Awards, the 2019 Melon Music Awards, the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards, and the 29th Seoul Music Awards! They were also nominated for Best Korean Act at the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards. ITZY released the EP It'z Me and its lead single "Wannabe" in 2020 which won the Digital Bonsang award at the 35th Golden Disc Awards. "Loco", the lead single from the group's first studio album 'Crazy in Love' (2021), was nominated at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards for Best K-Pop! The 2022 single "Cheshire" from the EP of the same name won the award for Artist of the Year – Global Digital Music (November) at the 12th Circle Chart Music Awards! The Group has so far won 6 Asia Artist Awards, 5 Asian Pop Music Awards, 5 Fact Awards, 3 Circle Chart Music Awards, 3 Golden Disc Awards, 2 Seoul Music Awards, 2 Soribada K-Music Awards, 2 MAMA Awards, 1 Melon Music Award, 1 Hanteo Music Award, 1 Genie Music Award, 1 Japan Golden Disc Award, 1 K-Global Heart Dream Award, a Korea First Brand Award and a V Live Award!

YEJI is very much into charity. In November 2023, she participated in her first major fundraising event for the "Love Your W" campaign by W Korea to raise awareness for breast cancer. In October 2024, She took part in W Korea's "Love Your W" charity event and in March 2025, she generously donated ₩50 million (~$37,500) to the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association to aid wildfire victims and firefighters in South Korea.

YEJI is also a Top Model and Fashion Icon and has appeared on the cover of W Korea & Elle Korea! In September 2024, she caused a media frenzy at Dolce & Gabbana's Spring Summer 2025 show during Milan Fashion Week. In February 2025, Yeji became the brand ambassador for Roger Vivier and in November 2025, she became their Global ambassador! On March 5, 2026, YEJI was the Star and Main Event at Roger Vivier’s Autumn/Winter 2026 presentation during Paris Fashion Week!

My favorite part about writing is that first spark of an idea. It can happen at any time, for any reason. The idea for the Opalite music video crash landed into my imagination when I was doing promo for The Life of a Showgirl. I was a guest on one of my favorite shows, @TheGNShow. For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a UK late night show where Graham Norton (the insanely charismatic and lovable host) invites a random group of actors, entertainers, musicians, etc to be on his show and we all sit there and chat like it’s a dinner party. They even serve wine. Anyway. I remember thinking I got ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and @LewisCapaldi. All people whose work I’ve admired from afar. When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall made a light hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! He was joking! Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an *idea*. And so a week later he received an email script I’d written for the Opalite video, where he was playing the starring role. I had this thought that it would be wild if all of our fellow guests on the Graham Norton show that night, including Graham himself, could be a part of it too. Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory. To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video. You might even recognize some friendly faces from The Eras Tour. I got to work with one of my favorite people in the world, Rodrigo Prieto, again! I had more fun than I ever imagined - Made new friends, metaphors, and fashion choices. It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters. Shot on film.
