But it amazes me that some people still do it for whatsoever reason that isn't worth it.

Is it that they aren't aware of the consequences or what exactly is their problem?

in the grand scheme of Islamic theology, any person who does not believe in Islam and the final prophethood of Muhammad is classified as a Kafir, regardless of whether they are idolaters or not.

@IdrisAOni1 If a city surrenders peacefully via a treaty (like Jerusalem did), Muslims must strictly honor the terms.
Existing churches are fully protected and allowed to be maintained by their respective communities.
