Northern Ireland international Conor Hazard will be our first new signing of the summer transfer window, with the goalkeeper agreeing to join us on July 1st.
Welcome to Wycombe, Conor! π§€
@WycombeDJ I think my concern is more about sustainability post billionaire owner.
Itβs nice to have an academy, Iβm just not sure it works the same way it used to when Scowen, Stewart etc came through
@WycombeDJ Itβs nowhere near as much as it was pre-2012 when the rules changedβ¦ we sold Jordon Ibe for ~Β£1m.
Academies are so expensive to run, weβd need to sell a Jordon Ibe every season to break even, which is going to be difficult relying on compensation alone
@JGsLongThrow Right now I think Luis Enrique, he's doing more interesting things in football and plays more attractive football.
But Pep will go down as one of the best ever, I think Enrique is still someway shy of that achievement
The Finale β½οΈ
Adidas designs have become synonymous with the tournament over the past two decades, it's a shame this will be their last.
I illustrated the ball and had it printed onto a 7 inch picture disc vinyl record with the Champions League anthem lathe cut into it π΅
@officialbagface If the football stays this turgid I hope you're right and he'll be gone. But replacing him might be tricky, maybe the world cup will cause a shake up in the manager market. Not too many elite options that will play attacking football
@officialbagface Yeah the squad is crying out for someone direct. Watching the Bayern-PSG matches and seeing Diaz and Olise drive the team up the pitch is a stark contrast to what you guys are missing in the squad now. But does Slot actually want to be that direct and aggressive in attack?
Japan π―π΅
It's been years since I last attempted a Ukiyo-e inspired illustration but back then I don't think I had the technical ability to quite pull it off.
With these drawings I wanted to combine my own style with parts from traditional Japanese woodblock prints
@WycombeDJ They can work but I think you often have to recruit for a back 5. Wing backs often don't work as well when they're asked and defend more in a back 4. It can leave the XI less versatile moving forward, and if it doesn't work after the transfer window closes you're stuffed.
@WycombeDJ I think I just have some major reservations about a back 5 at Wycombe, so many times we've tried it and so often it doesn't work for us.
Would have to be a very versatile new AM and what happens when he gets injured? We're toothless again.
@JGsLongThrow I do wonder if the 5 year contract with Hummel was always going to lead to this scenario. Would be nice if we switched back new kits every two years for the remainder of Hummel's contract - assuming they're still the manufacturer
