NEW: More gains of strategic connection to the centre, as President Tinubu directs the installation of solar-powered street lights from Enugu all the way to Onitsha.
Truth be told, Tinubu has done a lot for Enugu under the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Mbah. And Engr Dave Umahi is unarguably the best ever performing Minister of Works.
Ndi Enugu are increasingly seeing the clear benefits of aligning with the party at the centre of national power and politics.
• Under President Tinubu's administration, the South East Development Commission was established, with headquarters in Enugu.
• President approved the concession of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, including the completion of the abandoned international terminal and the construction of a new cargo terminal, finally making the airport truly international and not merely in name. The first Nigerian airport to be successfully concessioned.
• President Tinubu, chairing the Federal Executive Council, approved ₦24 billion for the construction of the 82 Division/Abakpa Junction Flyover in Enugu.
• The President also approved the immediate and expedited reconstruction of the collapsed twin New Artisan Bridge.
• President Tinubu gave approval for the speedy construction of Eke Obinagu Flyover, Emene, arguably the longest in the South East, in support of the dualisation of the 21.7km Abakaliki Road from the Airport Flyover to the Ebonyi State border by the Peter Mbah administration.
• The President approved the continued funding of the reconstruction of Enugu - Onitsha Expressway. See the transformation of the stretch from Abakpa Junction to Trans Ekulu flyover towards 9th Mile and beyond.
• President Tinubu approved the ongoing dualization of the 9th Mile – Opi Nsukka - Obollo Afor – Oturkpo highway after decades of neglect and abandonment.
• The President approved the release of funds for the continuation of the reconstruction of the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway.
• President Tibunu appointed an Enugu son, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla as the Chief of the Naval Staff, and subsequently another Enugu son, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, as the Chief of the Air Staff.
* Coming Soon: Presidential approval secured for key infrastructure projects in Enugu and the South East
* Revitalisation of the Eastern Rail Line from Port Harcourt through Aba, Enugu, Ubahu, Eha Amufu, Oturkpo, Kafanchan, Kaduna, to Maiduguri.
* Extension of gas pipeline to Enugu to power industrialisation across the state.
• Let me stop for now. Doubters should please fact-check me.
Dan Nwomeh in Enugu
One of our signature projects in the healthcare sector is the Enugu International Hospital, a 300-bed ultramodern facility being developed to strengthen access to quality and specialised healthcare services in Enugu State.
The hospital is being equipped with advanced medical infrastructure, including cancer diagnosis, treatment, and other critical care services, to position it as a centre for excellence and a destination for advanced medical treatment within and beyond Nigeria.
A productive state is built on a healthy population, and we remain committed to strengthening our healthcare system to ensure accessible, modern, and quality healthcare for all.
Nobody should have to travel miles just to see a doctor. For too long, many communities have lived with that frustration, where basic healthcare felt out of reach.
We are changing that by building 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) across Enugu, ensuring every ward has a modern health facility close to home, FREE OF CHARGE for our people, and supported by a digital system that keeps patient records safe and accessible.
Each centre will run with 24-hour solar power and running water, with 3,380 beds across the state, at least 13 per facility. To support our frontline workers, 2-bedroom apartments are being built at every PHC, because when healthcare workers are well supported, patients receive better care.
The goal is to have everything operational by the end of May.
Ndi Enugu, we are closing the gap in healthcare accessibility.
Tomorrow is here.
The vision is clear. The execution is in place. Tomorrow is here.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to transforming Enugu State from a $4.4 billion economy to a $30 billion economy, unlocking opportunities, driving innovation, and delivering shared prosperity for our people. This is not just a promise but a deliberate pathway to improved livelihoods and a future where Enugu stands as a model of progress and excellence in the Southeast and beyond.
This morning, I joined the faithful at the Government House Chapel for the Holy Mass marking Ash Wednesday, ushering us into the sacred season of Lent.
Ash Wednesday calls us to prayer, fasting, humility, and reflection — a reminder that we are from dust and to dust we shall return. It is a time to realign our hearts with love, service, and compassion.
Significantly, this year’s Lent coincides with the beginning of Ramadan for our Muslim brothers and sisters, a powerful convergence that reminds us that while our paths of worship may differ, our shared values of faith, sacrifice, and devotion to God unite us.
May this sacred season renew our commitment to unity, peace, and service to one another. I wish all Christians and Muslims a spiritually enriching Lenten and Ramadan season.

“NBA Holds Health Walk at 2025 Annual General Conference in Enugu”
The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), @afamosigwe , SAN, this morning led lawyers on the traditional NBA Health Walk in Enugu, as part of activities marking the 2025 Annual General Conference of the Association.
The walk, which has become an integral feature of the NBA Annual General Conference, served as a reminder of the importance of fitness and wellness in the legal profession. Speaking at the event, the NBA President emphasized that the legal profession often demands long hours, intense focus, and great physical and mental strain, making it imperative for lawyers to prioritize their health.
“The health walk is more than a routine; it reinforces the fact that staying fit is essential for sustaining the strength and clarity we need to serve justice and society,” he said.
He further described the health walk as an energizing way to begin the conference, noting that before delving into the intellectual sessions, robust debates, and social engagements that define the NBA Annual General Conference, it is vital for lawyers to take care of their bodies and minds.
The event, which drew wide participation from delegates, was marked by camaraderie, joy, and a shared commitment to wellness. The President commended the enthusiasm of lawyers who joined the walk, reaffirming that while the Bar stands tall for justice, it must also stand strong in health.
The 2025 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association is taking place in Enugu from 22nd to 29th August, under the theme “Stand Out, Stand Tall.”
