give San Diego the franchise it deserved.
My husband was one of the most patient and disciplined people I have ever known. Those who worked closely with him know that. To paint him otherwise is simply not accurate.
Please stop repeating a narrative that diminishes both the intentionality of his leadership and the legacy he worked so hard to build.

Peter did not spend as though he were “ailing.”

Maybe fatherhood is catching up to Machado too?
Or maybe the answer is to have more kids! If 4 kids is what it takes to get Manny’s BA up to .260, let’s do it!
Freddie Freeman on players getting worse as they age, via @Ken_Rosenthal:
“I don’t know if it’s Father Time. You have four kids. You’re tired all the time. That 98 looks a little bit faster when you’re a little sleepy.”
Freeman in his age-36 season:
.260 BA
6 HR
.803 OPS
Tatis Jr 36 first inning plate appearances
.094/.194/.125
Been almost impossible to have a good first inning with him hitting 2nd

🚨OFFICIAL RULING FROM MLB🚨
I reached out to MLB since there is a lot of confusion regarding this play:
“In our Umpire Manual, here is the definition of a fair ball:
FAIR BALL Definitions of Terms: When in contact with the ground, a ball must be in contact with fair territory and not merely over fair territory in order to be adjudged to be fair.”
MLB acknowledged an error was made.
The more I got into this, the more I realized Tatis is the blueprint for “old school” hitters
✅ Weight “in” the back leg and not “on” or in the hip
✅ front foot down soft and early
✅ front shoulder closed, think the other way
✅ hands to the ball
So many cliches and none of them are helping him get to the ball efficiently.
I found a lot of similarities to some swing set ups Tatis has had in the past, unfortunately what works in 2021 probably won’t work in 2026.
Hitting and pitching has changed. More importantly, Tatis himself has changed. He’s bigger… most likely wider. Mechanics have to evolve too. While the best hitters in the game have evolved, Tatis is chasing an old feel.
We know he is best when he hinges. He’s able to rotate freely through space and get his barrel out in front.
For some reason he needs the feel of being in his Quad but when he overloads the quad, he pushes and adds length/can’t rotate behind the ball. Tatis is running a 5 degree oppo direction.. that’s the first clue His barrel is LATE!
Combine his quad dominant start with hitting the ball deeper than ever before and he get a guy that can’t pull the ball in the air because his barrel is never on plane long enough to work back up through the ball. See the decreasing attack angle numbers.
It’s been a difficult two years watching this transition every single night. I don’t think he wants it. His body language tells us he’s frustrated and searching. Every night I watch hoping he will load into the hip and coil the top half. He’s come close. Last year he had a week where I was encouraged during the summer, and he got mixed results but better movements.
But alas, here we are again. It’s never efficient. And this is one of the best athletes in the sport.. it’s not like he isn’t capable.
@tay13gup I love the team as much as I do because that very man taught me what love of a team looks like. I owe my fandom, my job, my biggest hobby… all to Mark Grant. I’ll love him and be grateful for him til the day I die. So lucky to call him a friend
