Concluding prayer at our “Steak and Systematic Theology” study. A few of the guys in our church did around 200 pages of theological reading over the last few weeks, discussed it together tonight, and ended with steak at the house afterward. A good conclusion to Sunday!
“If you show the students you care, then the learning will come.” A teacher in our district told me this and I immediately thought of pastoral ministry. Like all aphorisms, it oversimplifies matters, but it is generally true nonetheless.

This was a first for me in ministry:
Found a $20 duct-taped to the church door, with a note with an address and the words, “Need baptized”
Okey dokey 😂
@zachshives I’m praying for you Zach. I’m working through a similar phase. I’ve been helped by meditating on Isa 40:28-31. May the God who never weakens renew your strength.
“The deductions we draw from the statements of Scripture are not equal to the statements of Scripture in certainty or authority, for our ability to reason and draw conclusions is not the ultimate standard of truth—only Scripture is.”

A good friend of mine is moving to the UK to help with academic research on the Bible. If you are interested in helping or learning more through their video, follow the link below. https://t.co/oeZtDpeg7A
“Are you scouting the competition?”
That’s what somebody asked when they saw me visiting a nearby church.
“No,” I said.
“Our competition is brunch, the lake, the NFL, and a slow morning at home.”
Our churches are on the same team. And so many people need life in Christ.
One of the most important shifts in my life was when I started reading the Bible regularly. More than anything in the world, I want my kids to see how amazing God’s Word is! We are so proud of you, Nat!!
Today was a big day for our oldest, Natalie: she got her ears pierced!
A year ago, we started having her read the book of John in a translation that matched her vocab level. In the last year, she has read 6 books of the Bible: John, Acts, Revelation, Genesis, Exodus, and James.
We have watched her reading ability, her vocab, and her love for Jesus grow as she has kept reading.
Shelby and I decided that we would reward Natalie for reading 5 books of the Bible by letting her get her ears pierced, so we finally got that done today!
