@CcibChris Yes first refuelled in a Comet in 1964, VC10 1970 & 1971. Also stayed a few days on RFA LSL Sir Lancelot summer of 1971 anchored offshore Gan on a trip Singapore to Calcutta, Gan and back to Singapore. The bats could be seen in hedges around the RAF base - great experience
@andrewc44104127 I did at school and in Cubs & Scouts. I recall even Ursula von der Leyen did too at the same school she and Boris Johnson attended in Brussels. It was quite common
Pharmacists are an essential part of the NHS team, helping people across the country to live longer and healthier lives.
This World Pharmacists Day, thank you to all pharmacists for their hard work, expertise and knowledge! ๐
Problem if you don't have at least a Brigade strength - with at least 3 Reg Para battalions as they often get deployed elsewhere - we never have enough. Our military is too small to ring fence specialist units.
During the 70s 16 Para Bgde disbanded and we got 6 Field Force so our airbourne forces shrunk along with other support arms Armour, Artillery Logistics - believe 9 Para RE stayed.
After the Falklands the airbourne brigade and supporting arms returned and should stay.
I have a pair, the camera is not that brilliant. If you are filming the light comes on if videoing and you have to click the button. If tape is covering the light then you may have a dodgy person. They are more common than you realise - everyone in Vision Express where I got mine had a pair.
I use the Meta AI function (not so good) as it talks to you through speakers in the arms of the glasses. As they are connected to your mobile phone if switched on you can take phone calls.
They can be good at looking at objects and asking Meta what am I looking at? Tried them out at @Our_Tim โs
Tanks, Trucks and Firepower it recognised the Challenger and a Chieftain but thought a Stalwart was a Saracen.
Looked at statues in Manchester couldnโt get one right. Didnโt know No10 North - well who does.
@MilitaryCooI Number rank and name and other tasks like opening your eyes to see how many fingers the instructor had. You tried to do this holding your breath.
In addition changing cannister drills and learning to eat a biscuit and drink water before the straw appeared on the S10 respirator.
Remember picking a load of these up for Op Scarab c1980/81 from Stevenson, south of Abingdon for my Regt and Irish Guards. Recall article in Soldier Magazine. We had them upgraded with home office radios.
Also had 6 weeks specialist training including chemical spills and RTAs by Fire-officers who refused cooperation - said they were not allowed to support the military as in 1970s. I was designated to takeover Dover Fire-station. The strike never happened.
@DolfDoofinsky@DrChrisParry Leave them alone. Reminds me of other Health workers who lecture you about going on a diet and losing weight. Not all are good role models.
@DrChrisParry@Mr_Andrew_Fox Shock and horror ๐ฎ
Well not so shocked anymore โฆ.. wouldnโt the crew even challenge/question if their aircraft didnโt have a winch?
Begs so many questions.
@CliveWardauthor SMG was my personal weapon but still prefered the SLR with LMG mag converted to automatic - the old bit of a fag paper placed under a sear.
Being a Level 5 Field Firing instructor tested its effectivness on the range with live ammunition. The original FN had the capabilty.
@TheRealJamieKay Auf Wiedersehen, Pet created some famous actors.
First episode had a scene filmed in Duisburg, West Germany and a number of my Troop were invited as extras in the bar scene. A number got drunk with I believe was due to a number of takes and the drink kept flowing.
@Freyaiiie By memory the advert for Red Bull was invented in Austria in 1987 ie 30 years later! I believe it was not until 1995 it was launched in the USA.
@balmer_tim I hope you never did this with a laser range finder if you did mortars ๐ likewise if you didnโt do mortars youโd hope they got their lasers bang on ๐
