Mike Efford

I am a contemporary abstract artist. I am inspired by abstract expressionism and classical music.

It hasn't stopped raining here in the past 3 days but that won't stop me from listening to this charming music by Arnold Bax. From his Three Pieces for small orchestra : Dance in the Sunlight https://t.co/QgeoHH0LUU

@wendyOrourke Calls for celebration indeed!! So glad you are feeing better. What an ordeal. I have had nine ear surgeries since age 11 so can relate somewhat but your journey was epic. All the best to you, take good care.

What better choice of art to display in #interiordesign that exudes the rhythms, color, and feeling of the earth, than a digital landscape?

Just listened to both Mahler's 1st (Bernstein & Vienna phil) and Rott's 3rd movement here (Jaarvi & Frankfurt radio symph) and I see exactly what you mean! Rott is a largely undiscovered gem, and a trailblazer, too. Great stuff!

[𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗺𝗮𝗻 🌱 @irishpianoman]

@MikeEfford_art You better try his symphony then, the 3rd movement, if you know Mahler's 1st symphony you'll realise straight away who he was influnced by because it was written by Rott 8 years before Mahler's. https://t.co/wJD1nCnvMY

Andrew, gorgeous piece! A great find. I had not heard of him before. Googled him. Tragic life, died at 26, but for sure he deserves more acclaim, and more performances (like this one which is excellent).

The opening melody of this music has been in my head all day and I've finally remembered who it's by!
Hans Rott (1858 - 1884), Symphony for string orchestra in A flat major.
