Daniel let me return the favor and help you. We’ve had most of those pitchers on the IL since last year. This didn’t just all of a sudden become an issue, it’s been an ongoing issue.
Most teams in order to make a push in the playoffs need to have starting pitching. The Braves only have 2 because they didn’t do anything to improve the pitching through out the year.
We knew damn well Elder wasn’t gonna cut it as well so don’t even bring him up. If we were to pitch him the Phillies would’ve put up 25 runs
Lmao “you’re emotional” isn’t a baseball argument.
I brought up Sale’s other appearances to explain the number, not erase the bad starts. My confidence in him comes from his overall track record. What’s your actual case for trusting Elder, beyond pointing out that Sale has had bad playoff games too?
And “doesn’t predict every future start” doesn’t mean “has no relevance.” There’s a difference between questioning a guy and guaranteeing he’ll fail.
You also skipped the entire point about roster construction. I’m criticizing who we were relying on BEFORE the injuries. Listing the IL again doesn’t answer that.
Lmao you keep saying “context” like you’re the only one who understands it.
A) Sale gave up 12 of his 24 postseason earned runs in TWO outings. His other eight appearances? A 3.86 ERA. He also struck out the side to close out a fucking World Series. That’s why I trust his overall track record. Bringing up his ERA doesn’t magically make Elder a dependable playoff starter.
B) “One game means nothing” is a hell of a statement about playoff baseball. It doesn’t predict every future start, but six earned runs in 2⅔ innings still happened.
And you’re missing my point about the injuries. I’m questioning why we were depending on those guys to begin with. Listing everyone on the IL explains who’s unavailable it doesn’t answer whether the pitching plan was good enough. That’s the decision I’m criticizing.
