@kingpinnupe@RavishinRUde@PitinoParkway Best coach in college ball is over 60 and just won the national title last year. Bill Self. Jim L has been to back to back elite 8’s and is older than Rick. Coach K went to final 4 at 75. Age is just number. Rick will be fine. Never needed 5 stars to win. He knows how to coach…
@jeffjeff360@Royals@SalvadorPerez15@WhitMerrifield Because of one comment? You never misspoke or made a mistake? If you did would you want everyone to judge on that or everything you had ever done before? Nobody is perfect. Far from. It was an emotional time. Whit was a great Kansas City Royal and should be respected as such.
@tsnmike 2015 is nearly a decade ago. John Beilein walking through those doors soon? He was the best coach in that league. They have missed him dearly. How would you describe the B10 tournament performance since 2019? Pathetic? Embarrassing? For years, correct.
@tsnmike@ShmuelUjdak It’s been pretty obvious for years. Average coaching and little high end talent. Usually one star player on each roster. B10 sports media then shoves that one star down the nations throat for months. Rinse and repeat.
@tsnmike@ShmuelUjdak Buddy it isn’t that hard. B10 has some good teams. They aren’t great and certainly aren’t elite. A bunch of good teams will make your metrics look good. When margin slims and they face the best of the best… they get exposed. Hint why they haven’t won a title for decades.
@CRCBen @JBreezyBurner@SamMcDowell11@ChasenScott About what I have as well. Sampson is the most underrated coach in America but never when watching did I think they were the best team. I think metrics struggle with non high major teams. Not having to grind through a tough league exaggerates elite non power league teams.
@JonRothstein Best coach in college basketball. Best coach of his generation. One of the best to ever do it. Runway is there to arguably be the best coach ever. Needs a couple more titles but his resume stacks against anyone.
@jdmetfan McDermott and Smart both struggled a bit in the B12 before going to the BE. Beard was the opposite. Beard is a tier above them. Would be an A+ hire. Would have similar impact that Sean Miller had at Xavier. Instant success.
@BaseballGuyRyan@jazayerli Baseball decisions isn’t what made Ned a good manager. His man management was. His players loved him. Loved to play for him. And played hard for him. Rob Thomson had a similar impact on Philly. Why Matheny doesn’t and wasn’t ever going to work.
@darinseidel1@mctait I’m rather certain Self promotes the aggressiveness. Wants him to be a microwave off the bench. True bench scorer. Similar to how Remy was used late last year. One of a few guys on the team that can create his own shot. Useful piece to this team.
@_AndersonAvenue Not good clearly. Doesn’t mean they have to spend on a search firm that will likely recommend more retreads like Mike Anderson. Pitino is the first call if he says no then sure maybe use the firms.
@_AndersonAvenue Biggest fallacy in college sports is that you need to have outside consultants to hire a coach. A massive waste of resources. Top 3 coach in the country is coaching locally and has shown interest in the job before. Save the $ for Pitino and NIL. Obvious choice.
@BonoMatt51@NYPost_Brazille @MikeCraggSJU Been a retirement gig for Mike the whole time. Game passed him by long ago. Same thing as Boeheim. System coaches that have failed to adjust to the modern game.
@M_Vernon@chartingthehaw1@KyleRohde Self has adapted his “system” multiple times since Grimes. Grimes was always a PG and was asked to play off ball to compliment Dotson. His playmaking couldn’t shine and his lack of consistent jumper at the time was exposed. KU fans had heavy expectations for him and it showed.
