The point was made brilliantly by @honigstein yesterday: Germany sacrificed players who don’t fit the balance of the side. England can’t - or won’t - do that. So they’re massively unbalanced trying to fit players in. Kane drops in almost as a 6. Foden isn’t a winger, Trent etc.

So many issues that it's hard to know where to start with #england but the issue is clearly Southgate. No idea how to pick or coach a system, just goes with the best player in each position and sends them out there hoping for the best. He should've gone long ago!
