Our Policy Director spoke at the Senate Elections Committee hearing in Sacramento in support of SB 299 today. The bill would update CA’s voter registration system & remove barriers communities of color face to participate in our elections. The bill now moves to the Senate floor.
Meet our network and the many ways we are building people power to win the systemic changes we need to make life better for all! On election day, when our AAPI communities actively participate in democracy, we are empowered as #AFORCE4Change.

As Californians continue to take to the streets and fill the halls of government calling for ceasefire in Palestine, we also #VoteAsAFORCE this election year to demand change. We are sick of corporations that back conservative politicians. #CommunitiesOverCorporations
In the month of July alone, in San Diego, while 800 homeless people became housed, 1,200 became homeless for the FIRST TIME. If we want to reduce homelessness we must start by expanding eviction protections & keeping families housed! Vote YES on #SB567!
California is NOT for sale! Once again, corporations are trying to change our voting rules to hoard their wealth, evade taxes, and weaken our democracy through heavily funded ballot measures. We need bold leadership that tames corporate greed and says enough is enough! #ACA13
...so WHO WANTS 2 KILL RENT CONTROL? 🤔
👉The CA APARTMENT A$$OCIATION spends million$$ to kill renter protection laws--> our local gov can't stop greedy corporate landlords from driving California's housing chaos.
Let's put people over profits. ✊#HomelessnessPreventionAct
Hitzke says she's able to make plenty of profit without harming families that rent in her buildings. So, if she can do that without jacking up rents and evicting renters, why can't corporate landlords? https://t.co/GMkFigvJJs #SB567#HomelessnessPreventionAct
#SB567#HomelessnessPreventionAct:
✅ Closes exploitable loopholes used to unfairly evict
✅ Provides enforcement tools that protect people from arbitrary evictions & displacement
✅ Protects families from homelessness
Fresno residents are majority renters, but it's 1 of 2 major CA cities w/o rent control. Residents are more vulnerable to housing costs than much smaller cities in SoCal. The # of homeless folks in Fresno and Madera counties is the HIGHEST in 10 years. Vote YES on #SB567
Many leaseholders experience domino effect + rapidly descend into homelessness after events like eviction, domestic violence, health crises, etc. Many had little warning before being forced to leave w/ in 10 days notice. YES on #SB567 and help millions of Californians!
If homelessness continues to increase in California at its current pace, by 2050 the homeless population will reach over 500,000 people. That’s more than the total number of people in Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno or Long Beach. Vote YES on #SB567#HomelessnessPreventionAct
Because of local inaction, Fresno renters rely on state housing + homelessness policies more than other Californians. Voting YES on #SB567#HomelessnessPreventionAct stops landlords from using loopholes around the few existing tenant protection policies + strengthens enforcement
The overwhelming majority of 1,000 Fresno voters across the political spectrum support tenant protections and rent control, but the city's mayor and council have taken few steps to protect renters. Vote YES on #SB567#HomelessnessPreventionAct
