@Strickomaster I wasn’t trying to change your OP, I was just expressing mine & it’s different. You focus on compliance first & I’ll focus on relational warmth where children feel safe to learn & make mistakes. Rupture & repair is the bedrock of relationship not compliance. That’s my issue 👍

@Strickomaster Adherence & policy are important but if a behaviour policy is your only behaviour strategy then you’r going to have problems. The teachers I’ve been lucky enough to work with & have the least amount of behaviour challenges are the ones that focus on connection before correction

@Strickomaster Not in my current role but have previously & I spend my working day in & out of classrooms. 30 in a room refusing to follow instructions is extreme & would suggest a bigger problem.

@Strickomaster I think you’re right I do have an issue with the word comply especially when it is being described as a bedrock to relationship. For compliance also see control possibly fear. I would rather see connection, engagement, curiosity and mutual respect.

@Strickomaster Compliance is not the bedrock of everything, especially relationships. Relationships should not be built on compliance as a start point. How about mutual respect, compassion, empathy, understanding that we are all human. It’s worrying that you think compliance is everything

@Strickomaster I do agree with you about safeguarding concerns on the arrivals in the morning. Highly visible staff is crucial and line ups aren’t necessarily a bad thing when done with the right tone and for the right reasons

@Ms_L_White I’m not against line ups Lynsey. It can be a good opportunity to check in and set the emotional tone for the day when done correctly and without shaming. I question the need to get staff to do it! Did they practice crossing the road safely afterwards? It would be a good chat!

This will be as much about drilling the staff into compliance before moving on to the new students arriving in September. Just so wrong 🤦🏻 oh but it’s consistent & structured so it’s fine. Who doesn’t like a bit of shaming 1st thing in the morning

@Mouhssin_Ismail I would seriously question the quality of teaching at your school if you are expecting/relying on students to study 8-10 hrs per day in the Easter hols to get top grades. The break isn’t just for staff, it’s also a much needed rest for the students. What an absolute clown 🤡

@PhilBeadle I’m sure they do enjoy engagement. We can agree on that. I’m not so sure they enjoy the fear and forced compliance that comes as part of the package with TLAC and SLANT. At least the overwhelming majority of students that I’m in contact with on a daily basis wouldn’t.
