Canada takes the field today.
Not long ago, simply qualifying for the World Cup felt like a distant dream. Now, expectations have changed.

The World Cup begins today.
For fans of giants and minnows alike, this tournament is built on a simple act of faith: believing that something extraordinary might happen.
On Canada, Cape Verde, and the beautiful absurdity of hope.

One point that stood out from my conversation with a longtime Argos fan:
"The younger kids are the ones that we really need to target."
Is attracting younger fans the CFL's biggest challenge?

The Toronto Argonauts may be the CFL's biggest paradox.
Canada's largest market.
Wealthy ownership.
Recent championships.
Yet some of the league's smallest crowds.
Why?
That's the question at the heart of my latest article: https://t.co/XSXvYVhkwx

The CFL season begins tonight!
As a kid, I remember Doug Flutie, packed stadiums, and a CFL that felt genuinely cool.
Today, that excitement feels more fragile.

What’s the weirdest sports superstition you’ve ever had?
Lucky jersey?
Sitting in the exact same spot?
Research suggests fans do this because sports create uncertainty and emotional stress.

Watching sports rationally:
“My behaviour has zero impact on the game.”
Watching sports emotionally:
“If I move this drink, we’re giving up a goal.”

Sports can create a strange emotional environment where grown adults genuinely believe sitting in the wrong chair might cost their team a game.
Curious about why sports fans become superstitious during games?

There is a inaccurate narrative going around about the Habs. That the Habs are down in this series because they are spent and/or they are not good enough. They are probably tired, and I believe that the Carolina is the better team.
But that's not the reason the Habs trail in this series. They DO NOT SHOOT THE PUCK! This is not a new problem. They have had historic low numbers of shoots in these playoffs (including an entire period in a Game 7 without a single SOG). But the problem didn't suddenly come about in the playoffs. This has been a problem that has plagued them all season. The number of PPs and odd-man rushed that were wasted because of a reluctance to shoot the puck.
I heard this morning on @BPMSportsRadio an explanation that might be more accurate. These players might be too fancy and unable to play the bread and butter style that playoff hockey demands. If that is the case, it's a miracle they made it this far!
The bad news is that the team has not made the changes needed to fully compete. That's on the players and the coaches.
The good news is that the Habs can beat the Canes. Carolina is having a tough time beating a team that does not shoot on goal.

A bump on the road to success is losing to a better team because your lineup still has gaps to fill.
It is NOT a second straight game with barely a dozen shots and no shots in OT, after multiple playoff games with almost no offensive output.
The problem last night — and in Game 2 — wasn’t structural. It was tactical.
Worse, it may even be organisational.
This looks like a stubborn coach and stubborn players (enough with the suicide passes) confusing correlation with causation: believing their methods are creating success when they may simply be coinciding with it.
