Energy #efficiency, #renewables, #business nerd interested in warm showers, cold beer, & market drivers. I hike in the wilderness, fix P&Ls, noodle on policy.
.@elonmusk to make homes more efficient, start w/ technology we already have—air-sealing, high insulation, and well-tuned windows. We need well-built (and well-retrofitted) dumb houses more than new tech that ignores physics. See #PassiveHouse. https://t.co/TapwLwcdZn
Verifying @healthyheating comfort theories. Bumped t-stat up 2°F, radiant similar to last year, added a layer of clothing , and I’m still cold. Hypothesis: decreased metabolic rate (cancer, weight loss, maybe drugs)! Feel I missed a research opportunity.
@healthyheating@AlexLounsbury Absolutely. My point was a bit and cheek reminder that the individual can mess up the perfect system! (Home worked perfectly with a different me!)
@healthyheating@AlexLounsbury The old me and the new me could never be comfortable together in the best of rooms...with this invention called the sweaterir it’s cousin. But you covered that!
Curing the world of this terrible parasite has been one of former president Jimmy Carter's life goals.
When you look at the numbers, he's right within reach: 3.5 million reported cases down to 9 last year.
Today, I'm #thankful for trailblazers like Shirley Chisholm who paved the way for generations of women to be leaders in our democracy. Thanks to all the women who've stood up to discrimination and harassment and who've demanded their seat at the table. Your voice matters.
It is my obligatory duty as a climate scientist to retweet this map of current global temperature anomalies today. Can we all agree there is more a lot more red here than blue?
@j_g_allen 1. Sometimes this is true—and sometimes the HVAC system takes your building negative. I dare say most people don’t know which.
2. Can your HVAC system handle a MERV 13 in its current configuration?
This seems like it shouldn’t hurt. Folks in OR taped big HEPA filters over box...
@energysmartohio @MikePRogers@sdjessup@ideapete@lloydalter@healthyheating Passive House PRINCIPLES for sure. The objective should be to neither compromise nor maximize, but to optimize at a place where we can assure it's for everyone: not an indicator of wealth, but of sustainable fiscal & ecological common sense.
@energysmartohio @philip_fairey@sdjessup@ideapete@lloydalter@healthyheating Count me as a fan of womb@like comfort. Some people prefer a Tesla. Others like to learn be in Ohio instead of San Diego. Seems like the market allows for multiple paths.
