I’m hosting a Twitter chat on my teacher Twitter account on race in education. We’re using this amazing book by @BDTSpelman to frame our convo, but reading the book is not a necessity to participate in the chat. Please join us this Wednesday!
Just panicked and realized it’s the last day of the month and we hadn’t done a fire drill in March. Know that @PADeptofEd requires one each month for schools. Both students exited the building in a calm, orderly fashion. 🤣 #SafetyFirst
I started a new Twitter handle when I started teaching 4th grade last year. I’d love to connect with everybody over there because the 2 accounts are a bit to keep up. Follow me @MrRashid4th if you’d like to stay connected.
Lunch yesterday with four students from my first 4th grade class -@kcaj_kcillag, @carolinefea_, @brookewallaceee, and @EthanFatzinger. All going to college in the next few days & I am so proud of the young adults they’ve become. These 4 are going to change the world! #MASDproud

Problems like these are designed to EVENTUALLY be mental math problems. Do they look daunting? Sure they do. But not if we develop kids number sense properly. These puzzles are great for math centers because they are easily differentiated by filling in a number or two or three!
