CMMC 2.0 stopped!!
🛡️⚙️
🛡️⚙️ Big news for the U.S. defense base: CMMC Phase II is now suspended, and that matters a lot for contractors handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Phase II was the part of CMMC that would have required many Defense Industrial Base companies to pass a third‑party C3PAO assessment for Level 2 certification before award, a process that is very expensive, time-consuming, and especially hard on mid-size to smaller Defense based critical manufacturer's and suppliers.
For now, the Pentagon is pausing that step while it reviews the program, but it is not walking away from cybersecurity.
Existing data protection obligations under NIST 800-171 and DFARS remain in place.
The real question is how to strengthen cyber security without pricing innovative companies out of the defense supply chain.
That balance matters for readiness, competition, and the industrial base.
