I see lots of Shopify apps obsessed with quick growth after launch.
Or hiring a "marketing person" who will handle growth.
🚩🚩🚩
Before growth, you need a product marketing function.
Why?
To find your positioning, validate messaging, and pricing / monetization first.
Paid ads are not my favorite acquisition channel.
But they are great to test what people react to.
With Vanga AI, it wasn't fancy copywriting or creative ways to say "work less, earn more"...
State a problem -> show the product in action 🫰
Highest engagement, lowest cost.
Some are planning a lot for 2024.
Others are just scrambling.
But what's the ONE thing you absolutely must do in 2024?
For me: Learn more about SaaS pricing, do some experiments (mistakes), and focus on driving revenue instead of vanity metrics.
Listening to customers for what to build is key.
It's how you get revenue.
But they often make you build stuff from other apps.
So you end up with no differentiation.
Do this:
Listen for problems, read between the lines.
Build stuff that solve the problem in a new way.
@TyChapman___ With Rush we had an increase in installs after September and still going, but very minor movements in revenue. Brands were just not shipping that much on BFCM and overall volume was low.
@TyChapman___ Of course this is valid only for early stage apps that just launched. But I like the idea to pay a person who will help me build a better product for them instead of pumping money into Meta.
Just saw a post in a FB group:
"I'll pay you $15 to install my Shopify app"
My first reaction was "you don't just give it for free, you pay people to install your app??"
Then I remembered the $$$$ spent on ads with stupid low ROI.
Any strategy is a good one if it works.
