Excited to share some new work from my PhD with @MikeWhitlock63 on the effects of background selection (BGS) on genetic diversity (π) and genetic differentiation, FST, in an island model.
I am very honored to have been invited to give a research talk within the Bengalaru Population Genetics and Evolution School this winter in Bangalore (India) among so many great names, like @sarperotto and @MikeWhitlock63!
Many thanks to @DeepaAgashe for this kind invitation!
@TomBooker12 and I are looking for a postdoc interested in the genomics of local adaptation. We hope to harness better information from gene genealogies in genotype environment associations.
Please see https://t.co/wGf8sU5O03 for more info. See me at #Evol2023 or email.
1/3 In the House today, I recognized this year’s laureates of the Killam Prize🍁, which acknowledges Canadian leaders whose work focuses on the biggest challenges of our time. #KillamTrusts@KillamTrusts
This year’s Crafoord Prize is awarded to Dolph Schluter who has demonstrated that Darwin’s theories about natural selection are true in practice.

I just learned about Ballard and @MikeWhitlock63's Freshman Law of Selective Neutrality:
"If it’s important enough to learn about in first-year biology, it’s probably under strong selection.”

Using PicMin, I got very clear results for my ongoing project on repeated adaptation to whole genome duplication in Arabidopsis with @RosiSchmickl. Can very much recommend!
@mRoussy23 and I have been looking at the current state of Tri-Council awards for grad students. It's not great. For ex, the @NSERC_CRSNG PGS-D award has not changed in value since 2008. The red line is @StatCan_eng's poverty line (dashed is an estimate based on inflation).
Registration for #Evol2022, our 1st hybrid meeting, is open: https://t.co/v4UxQtSHbD
Join us in-person in Cleveland (Jun 24-28) or virtually (Jun 21 & 22). Lots of options & some diffs from our traditional meeting. Detailed info on our website. @sse_evolution @ASNAmNat @systbiol
We are providing free virtual admission to Evolution 2022 and memberships to @ASNAmNat for ~100 graduate students and post-docs. To apply, please fill out the form below:
