Spouse to an incredible Wife, Father to 3 amazing Sons and Grandpa to 2 wonderful Grandkids. Independent thinking but still a proud USA, OK, OU and Thunder fan.
First of all..welcome to OKC @FreddyLA7. I live here and it’s a great “little” city to live in.
And to my friends in Texas I really don’t get all the hate/jealousy. Texas is a great state to live in also. It is also huge and one of the biggest economies in the world by itself. So the fact that “we” had some Texas beer (love me some Shiner) and Texas boots for our guests should be seen as more of a compliment to our neighbors to the south. They are great brands and products.
But that’s just me.
Enjoy your time in OKC Freddy and appreciate your posts. It really is refreshing to see someone appreciate all the good things about the USA. We certainly aren’t perfect but we truly are blessed to live here.
@Jason2bartlett Thank you @jason2bartlett for visiting our home. The US is by no means perfect but in the grand scheme of things it’s not too bad😁. Enjoy your trip and ignore the hate on social media.
For what it’s worth I agree with Coach Finch with the #timberwolves here. Chet had a good to very good playoffs and year but a bad series overall vs Wemby and the Spurs.
First of all Wemby will do that to people. He is a freak, talented and seems to perhaps (dare I say it) get a more favorable whistle than even Shai😂.
But to give up on Chet is a mistake. First he can still grow in his game and he is fine against probably 90% of the other centers in the league. You surround him with people like IHart, Sorber (who didn’t even play this year), JWill (who is a very underrated center off the bench) and JDub….he is still a true asset. Those guys allow him to not NEED to bang around as much. But he does need that 2nd big man at least when it comes to the Wemby’s, Jokers, Goberts, etc of the league.
Thats why missing JDub was a big loss for the Thunder. More for his defense and rebounding than his offense. He is a strong and big power forward that would have helped a lot on the defensive end. As deep as the Thunder are they really don’t have a replacement for that. Offensively they do potentially in AJ, McCain or Wiggins but not defensively or rebounds.
I expect them to address that in the draft. Just my opinion.
Not a bad idea. Assuming he would do it on a minimum and he would defer to Shai. The second part is tougher. He wouldn’t start. I love Russ but that would be a lot for his personality. But we would be another good PG option besides Shai and AJ. Guy that can drive to the basket and dish out.
@NUCLRGOLF Me personally I bump and run it with my 8 or 9 iron. Green is a little uphill and I’m not a great wedge/sand wedge player. I’m more likely to skull it in that situation😳.
Though I’d be a little worried about getting the club caught in that first cut.
Hate is a strong word. I don’t hate any player. Wemby is a lot like Shai. He’s an all-Star like Shai and gets calls. Castle is a lot like Dort which I respect. Which I don’t like but I understand. That’s just me.
It’s simply a good series IMO and we should enjoy it. It’s going to be this way for years. 2 best teams in the NBA for sure.
@jasonwhitlock Pretty simple. Thunder played better and for some reason Wemby stayed on the 3pt line all night which helped with spurs not scoring and rebounds. Frankly as a Thunder fan I don’t know why they don’t just feed him inside all the time.
This stuff is just getting comical. There is probably one questionable call for Shai last night and I’ve seen it maybe a 1000 times on my feed. Couple of things:
1. The call was because Fox was in his landing area. Not because he touched him. Sure you can question that if you want but that was the call.
2. Shai (and this is a good example) if he feels he might land on someone’s feet literally moves his feet forward so he doesn’t land on the guys feet to protect his ankles. But that normally makes him fall. He would rather fall than twist an ankle.
I’m sure I’ll get lit up for this but it is true. I’m not saying he never flops like any other player but some are like this one to avoid injury.
Flame away.
PS. Good win last night Spurs.
Couple of things:
1. They played everyone straight up mostly instead of doubling Shai. Normally that’s good for Shai but with the Spurs, if he beats his man then Wemby is standing there to block his shot. Also he can’t dish out to open teammates because their guys are still covering them.
2. What open shots we had we missed. Shot terrible from the 3 pt line.
3. They played very aggressive defense and was allowed to. And that’s fine. We are accused of that all the time.
Just my opinion.
@ryanhammer09 My God guys. I must have seen this clip a 100 times tonight. We all know that was probably a bad call. It happens. Spurs had 32 FTs tonight to our 18 (I think). But more importantly your team played great and won. Just take the W man.
As a Thunder fan I actually agree. It may or may not make a difference but the bench has been great all year and Shai has no problem finding open teammates.
And if the Spurs can find a way to keep Wemby closer to the paint to deter drives to the basket that is a better recipe for the Spurs.
Appreciate your opinion as well. I realize Shai “flops” occasionally. But I also think he at least draws contact or actually is fouled on the vast majority of those plays. So he draws attention to it to help his team. He also is certainly not the only one doing it in the league.
The Spurs are young and hungry. They are a great team and as they mature and add to their depth they are going to be an issue for the league for sure. In my opinion they remind me a lot of the Thunder just a year or two behind with the biggest difference being depth.
Shai is a great player. But the true strength of the Thunder is their depth.
The fact that at least the Spurs “Fans” biggest hope to win the series is for the refs to call more fouls after a game that had 60+ FTs and they started the game with a 15pt lead is all you need to know about their mindset. They don’t think they can win without the refs. Couple of things:
- Wemby is a freak and arguably the best player in the league. Maybe get him more opportunities in the paint like game one. That gives SA more points and more rebounds.
- Maybe get more points from your bench. Granted that can’t happen overnight but the Thunder have found a way over the past few years.
- Maybe limit your TOs. The Spurs did much better with that in game 3 primarily because Fox played a good portion of the game.
The Spurs are a great team and Wemby is a generational player and a bigger focus on him (Like game 1) would improve their chances to win far more than any so called flopping issues.
Just my opinion.
