“When universities allow students to access plagiarism detection tools repeatedly, with no controls, those tools can be used by intentional plagiarists – and, potentially, contract cheating services – to camouflage cheating.” #AcademicIntegrity

I watched Politics Live today & it's painfully obvious that few outside academia know how it works. I'm a PhD student AND teaching staff & would like to address a few of the myths.
This is my experience of pay & working conditions in HE so far 🧵

Politics has made it too easy to blame the woes of society on a tribal division. The problems are selfishness and incompetence. Corruption / unsafe working practices don’t just thrive because of politics. They thrive because of a fundamental choice to let it happen.
Too many bosses need to get back on the shop floor or listen to their staff. Productivity is going to fall because of job insecurity and fundamental safeties. Consumers are becoming more savvy about the companies they support. No one is too big to fail.
