@JBoatwater@jpv4real@nhltraderumours Anyway, it’ll be a fun offseason I think. Also remember there is NOT a lot of premium talent at FA coming up, so really who is being signed?
@jpv4real@JBoatwater@nhltraderumours Haha I hope yall do, he’s been electric since joining your team. So fun to watch, complete opposite of my Rangers LOL
@jpv4real@JBoatwater@nhltraderumours Erik Karlsson 2023 lol
Goalie notoriously do not net large returns, that’s just a fact, I’d temper your expectations in a return from any Gus trade that’s all I’m saying. Also I think your team is in more of a rush than you let on to clear his cap hit in the hopes of resigning QH
@jpv4real@JBoatwater@nhltraderumours I’m completely unbiased here as Ia Ranger fan not an Oil. Gus is not in the top 1/3 if u said top 1/2 ok sure but I can absolutely rattle off 16 goalies I’d prefer. If you think you’re getting a 1C in a trade with Gus as the main piece going the other way, that’s delusional
@jpv4real@davidwmueller@nhltraderumours Binnington
Cossa
UPL
Merz
Montembeault
Kochetkov
Cooley
Dobes
Just off the top of my head, that’ll all likely be cheaper to acquire with better deals
@jpv4real@davidwmueller@nhltraderumours Gus is nowhere near the level of goalie Igor, Helly or Sway are, not even remotely close. All my OP said was why would Edm take Gus and his cap hit off the wilds books when clearly signing him to that term & AAV wasn’t a smart move on their behalf.
@JBoatwater@nhltraderumours 11th highest paid goalie in the league, he also has a NMC so he’s probably not going anywhere, nowhere did I say Edm doesn’t need a goalie I said they shouldn’t help Minn offload a $7M goalie who isn’t even the best goalie on his own team.
@davidwmueller@nhltraderumours Gus is fine he’s not an elite goalie & his contract pays him as 1. If Minn was to retain salary that’s 1 thing I personally wouldn’t be trying to acquire the older goalie on the higher AAV so they can slide Jesper into the starter role and bring in another vet on a lesser salary
@citchmook Edmonton needs to target a younger more cost controlled, high pedigree goalie that’s stuck behind other goalies at the NHL level, like Chicago did with Knight
