CEO & RI @ Care Afloat, previous Res Service Manager, qualified social worker, ex res manager, #ECLCM Supporter, but mainly a Liverpool FC lad through & through
Thank you so much to the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children. Once again they have done an amazing job, fundraising, providing and spending time putting together what is now a wonderful resource for our SAILS project (Supported Living Service) - Keep up the great work
We are calling for legal protection for all children and young people in care—not token gestures or general awareness, but meaningful legislation that recognises their status and affirms their right to a safe, supported, and fulfilling life.
Children in care are still children. They deserve the same opportunities, protections, and dignity as any other young person in our society.
How much more evidence must be presented to Parliament? How many more lives must be lost prematurely due to systemic neglect? How many more young people must enter adulthood burdened with unresolved trauma and severe mental health challenges caused by failures in care?
As a community, we are not asking for special treatment—we are asking for equality. No child chooses to be placed in care. It is a circumstance, not an identity. But the stigma, disadvantage, and lack of protection they face is institutional and deeply unjust.
It’s time to do the right thing. Make being care-experienced a protected characteristic under the law.

What a great start to the work - fantastic news for our maintenance manager, his family and everyone at Care Afloat. 😊😍🥰
How about giving him a 'like' so that this sends a positive message out to others in recovery.
I wonder how many people are prepared to RT Every Child Leaving Care Matters #ECLCM@ResCareTo21. If it matters then please send the message on Twitter by a simple press of a key. Thanks
