A lot of people are fans of Jesus. They wear the merch, the cross chain, they have a scripture in their instagram bio, a tattoo on their arm. Maybe they even read their Bible, go to church, and just like a sports fan, they shout “we won!” every time Jesus wins.

But they aren’t His followers. They don’t live like Jesus did. They don’t follow the Great Commission to go and make disciples, they don’t deny themselves and take up their cross daily, or love one another as Jesus loves us.

They hold to every part of the Bible that requires no sacrifice on their end and throw out the rest.

They’ve reduced faith down to a feeling with no action behind it. To them Christianity is a mere identity instead of a lifestyle.

But they aren’t actually on the team. The coach doesn’t know them, and their names are not written on the roster.

They will be the same ones to whom it’s said, “Away from me, I never knew you.”
